An LotSB-style quest, a noticeable story impact, and an influence on the ending is plenty, in my opinion. And the chance to hear that golden voice some more.

I think the whole temporary squadmate idea might produce for some pretty good moments now that I think about it.

Teamup with Wrex and Grunt on Tuchanaka killing salarians or other krogans.

Teamup with Jack taking down Cerberus, maybe even having to fight Jacob or Miranda in the process.

Teamup with Moridin to drop in a new genophage...

Possibilities are endless, and that would be just special teamups not even including the adventures with the regular crew.

I think this ancient rationale has pretty much been discarded in light of the revelations we've got about the squadmates in ME3. Squadmate status in ME3 will depend primarily on the story Bioware want to tell, and only secondarily on whether or not someone could die. If that were the primary guideline, the only returning squaddie we would have is Liara and this is patently not the case, so...

Wrex has very good plot reasons to only have a limited role in Shepard's squad.

The "Ancient rationale" is still in effect. The fact that Tali and Garrus have special status doesn't change this.

Oh and in order for Wrex to even be a temp squadmate, Wreav has to be one too.

Don't take the high ground and say "After devoting X amount of hours of my life this is how you repay me?!"

They're doing us a service by even making a sequel
Ofcourse, if you're not saying that in a serious way, then disregard this

I had to google who "Urdnot Wreav" even is, it never even occurred to me to take a path that puts that dude on the seat. A Mass Effect universe sans Wrex seems a bit more empty than I'd like.

I'd be satisfied with Wrex as a temporary squadmate, Bioware has earned enough good will that I know he has an important part to play, and his story will be done justice. Just give the guy some better armor, the stuff he had on in Mass Effect 2 was a little pedestrian.

Wreav has Winnie the Pooh's VA. That makes him awesome.

What?  I...

... Damn.

Anyway, I could care less who is or isn't a squadmate so long as Bioware does justice to the character and doesn't cheap out on the story.  Yes, this statement includes Garrus, whom I wanted on back on my squad more than anyone else--if he and Shepard had a legitimate reason to part ways, and the screen time he DID get was worthy of him and satisfying to the player, I'd have been cool with it.

This is why I wasn't upset over Wrex not being a squadmate in ME2: he had become a leader, and what he was doing would help his people just as much as stopping the Collectors would help humans.  I'd even go so far as to say that reuniting with Wrex on Tuchanka was reward enough for saving him in ME1, since it was the best damn part of the game and anyone who disagrees is in denial (just kidding, but it WAS amazing).  Seriously, MAN TEARS.

I fully expect Wrex to have an important role in ME3, even if he isn't a squadmate.  And even if all he did was on screen long enough to headbutt some dude, I'd be happy.  I love the guy that much.

I'm tempted to kill off Wrex so I can have Pooh Bear on my side.

I wish Wreav would still show up even if Wrex lived.

And Zaeed could die in his loyalty mission. Didn't prevent him from being a full squad member in ME2.

No, they're doing a sequal because that was their marketing plan all along, and they perceive they can still earn money on it.

Let's not paint things more pink and pastelcoloured than they are.

Wrex is a busy guy, we don't always get to frag with our old friends forever. :)

the only concern wrex should have is destroying the reapers. if wrex is still sitting on a concreete chair on tuchanka blowing duck farts, ill be extrememyl disapointed with whoever wrote that portion of the story. wrex doesnt push papers like liara and mordin. wrex blongs at wrexs side, no matter what.

This.

Having him as a temp squadmate would be more than enough, they have a lot of great character to fit into perma roles and Wrex can have maximum impact in minimum screentime so he is perfect for such a role.

Although I do wish they would add a godlike New Game+ reward: The option to use any squadmate on any mission (within reason) even if they have nothing to say. If there are a few temp squadies in ME3 (LotSB style) it would be awesome to get to play through the majority of the game using them if their 'builds' are already in the game. It might not be particularly realistic or make much sense in some contexts but who cares! Kinda like how you could mod ME2 to get some characters earlier.

Yeah I hope Grunt sneaks in to a perma squadmate position. I'd love to see how he has developed over the past few months, plus how he deals with being in his first real war should  be interesting to watch. I think of all the ME2 crew his character has some real room for character development, plus we need a Krogan squadmember surely?

But only after the suicide mission, and only if you have enough squad members left to play DLC.

And being able to die in the game because of the player´s choice is a completely different thing from not being in the game at all because the player did something in another game.

in the first case the player decides to not to experience content, in the second case the player is unable to experience content because of some past decision.
In the first case a player who wants to see every piece of significant content just needs to save and reload, in the second case the player would need to invest dozens of hours to completely play through a different game just to see all important content, something that no-one but the most hard core fan would do.

the more i think about it the more i think hes got to be(not as in I want him in it.) in this is just the war he is always dreaming of and doing it by sheps side would be even better to himPosted Image

No.

Only James Vega(Jenkins), VS, Liara, Tali, and Garrus are returning it seems. If you liked Wrex or any of the other ME2 Red Shirts you're outta luck.

Maybe those fanbases should have rallied together and whinned untill they got the same special treatment Tali and Garrus Fans have been getting since ME1.

The galaxy can be a pretty lonely place sometimes. Don't worry about Wrex dude. He'll be there when you need him most. Count on that & never lose faith.

I hope Wrex can be a permanent squad members in ME3 but we see in ME2 he's too important to leave the others Krogan/Urdnot.
I love this krogan : i have a Bromance with him and Garrus that's why i hope it could be possible to fight with him and have him in my ship for a long, long time ^^.

Zaeed could die in his loyalty mission? What!

Anywho, a liitle bit of a step away from Wrex but, is Grunt going to be a full time squad member?
Since Shepard became his Battle Master.

Also, is it confirmed Wrex will be a part time squad member? To be honest I would rather just have a few encounters with him, and see an epic cut-scene with Wrex and his army taking out some Reapers :)
