Improvement on squad AI?

Is there any news on improving the AI for Shepard's squad members?  My biggest frustration when playing ME2 was the nonchalant way my squad members took bullets to their faces.  That was okay in normal difficulty when I could kill the enemies before they kill my squad members.  But in harder difficulties - when enemies have more hp and hit harder - even Wrex with his fancy shield don't stand a chance.  The loading time is long enough to etch at my patience, but when you are ducked behind cover with your squadmates down and 3 armored unit flanking you while your warp ability is in cooldown....*sigh...

So going back to my initial question, will there be AI improvement for squad members?  Will they at least have the decency to stay ducked behind cover when their health is low?  Will they crouch/prone/slide to cover when the enemy wants to give them hugz with their mass accelerators?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Fan

All I have on this:

From Brenon Holmes:
http://social.biowar...7598/27#7336150

"A lot of the things we've been working on for the enemy AIs also apply to the squad AI - so at a base level there's already some improvement over ME2, we have some other improvements lined up as well... though I probably shouldn't go into any detail on those atm."

and this Dev blog from Christina Norman:

"The AI improvements we did for Liara could also help us produce more customized AIs for squad members in ME3. By writing more specific logic for use of individual powers, we may be able to add more personality to individual squad members beyond their basic power and weapon loadouts."

I both agree and disagree heartily.

On the one hand, I freaking HATE the retarded AI of my squaddies. It's significantly better than it was in ME1, however, as I rarely get shot in the back repeatedly, or have them standing right in front of a wall... and shooting it non-stop. But my god, the amount of times they (in ME2) stand there as a mech missile is coming towards them and just cop it and die, annoys the crap out of me.

On the other hand, if you're playing hardcore or insanity, then you should be micromanaging your squaddies; if they're standing in the fire, then that's your own fault.

I hope they have improved the team AI. Unless I micromanaged my team, the NPCs had a decided tendency to do something stupid and die.

And even when you did micromange them, they'd still do something stupid and die.

Granted, the AI's are much better from ME1. That's expected. Of course, I expect AI's in ME3 to be better than ME2. But in both games we see our squad mates love eating bullets like I love eating gummy bears. What I want is my squad mates to hate bullets, like I hate cheese. When they even hear shots fired, they should duck to the nearest cover. And maybe stay in cover until the enemy is reloading...or something. It's nice to be able to micromanage your teammates. But when does it become a "job" just to keep them alive, then I'd rather be playing Starcraft. Not that I don't already...

I love my squad mates. It's out of love that I tell them not to eat bullets, and I would never leave them out in the line of fire. But by some chance, some infinitesimal chance they were left "standing in the fire", then it was probably on purpose. Because they don't listen.

And don't get me started on taking cover. Taking cover for your teammates is like rubbing two greased up water bottles together.

You forgot to add, "...with opposing magnetic poles."

Indeed, you are correct, good sir. Still, if you can get even a microsecond more of use out of them, why not! I did end up using Unity quite a bit at times.
