Right, so here's the lowdown:

Presently playing through ME2 for the sixteen-zillionth time. This time as an imported John Shepard, Soldier, with Fortification as my bonus power. Only time I've ever used Quick-Start in ME1. But that's beside the point. I completed Lair of the Shadow Broker before recruiting or asking about Thane Krios and the Justicar Samara, and when I decided to recruit Thane, I only selected the intel on Thane, figuring I'd just get the intel on Samara when I damn well felt like it.

So here's the thing. I'm back on Illium and want to recruit Samara. I'm accessing Liara's terminal and it's presenting two options: "Justicar Samara" and "There is no further intel available." Selecting Samara closes the terminal without triggering the event that allows you to speak to the tracking officer to commence the mission. I've tried re-loading a save file, leaving Illium and returning, and rapid-firing the action button just to see if selecting it sixteen times will change the result. Negative on all counts. I believe I am now completely locked out of Samara's recruitment mission.

I'm connected to LIVE, so I assume this is via the latest patch as well. Has this glitch been encountered before?

It's a well known bug concerning LotSB (and I can't confirm it, though I've only seen mention of Samara being the problem; others may correct if that isn't the case); but as far as I am aware the problem has not been patched yet.

Yet another thread of this bug. Please Bioware, fix this small simple thing, if it´s too expensive or too much effort then please say you won´t fix it. That´s all we ask right now

I started playing ME2 after getting hyped up with all the stuff to be announced at E3, just completed LotSB DLC only to find I am now unable to start Samara's recruitment mission.

Please fix this, its not just affecting my play-through of ME2 but is likely to have consequences reaching into ME3 as well :-(

yea i was playing as a bad ass femshep infiltrator and i needed samara to get to mornith to join my crew. full renegade with kasumi, jack, and morinth as my main kick ass crew. this bug is going to cause me to restart my femshep infiltrator game from the beginning!!!! ararrrrrhhhhhhhggg

I have been told on PC version if you edit your save you can remove Thane as recruited and then get the dialog to open on the computer for him which it also opens for Samara. As I have never had this issue(I make sure to do LotSB later), this is only what someone else posted in a thread. So if you are willing to use an Editor, and mod your saves then you might can work around it. You will have to remod your save to put Thane back in the game he said wouldn't let him run that mission twice.

Not only was I able to remove Thane and get access to Samara and Thane but I was also able to do so many more things!!!! I can't thank you enough mcsupersport for your suggestion! I owe you bro!!!!

It really is as easy as eating waffles!!!!!!

That editor is a really cool thing, BUT Bioware hints or moans that any modified save may not import correctly......but then if you don't go wild with it, it shouldn't matter. But it is really fun to get a Shotgun early for your Infiltrator, and to add the Widow for all around fun.........

Glad it worked it is good to know that is the fix if needed.

thanks for the heads up on the importing into ME3 I will keep that in mind once I finish the mission with the infiltrator. I will probably bring everything back down to normal levels hahaha. hmmm i did not think of a shotgun... i like that idea! By the way Alathin (see above) was also able to fix it using the editor.

Hmm... any way to get Samara if you have this particular bug without modding saves? Augh... it's so irritating. I was so sure that I could come back for Samara later that I have done too much to restart this PT. Has anyone heard anything?

edit: sorry, I'm on PC so I should post there I guess.
