(sorry, not sure how to get the "quote" to work right)
As an old P&P D&D DM myself I don't see your reasoning for the above lummoxybez.
I see the situation with Viconia as any Paladin's quandry. He would be torn between his own "broad brush" prejudices toward the Drow (which many of their representatives have certainly brought upon them by attacking the very society he is sworn to defend) and his strong belief that ordered society is the best way to bring about the most good for the most people. He might well step in in the name of Law and Order, then again, he might leave the situation to the fates based on his hatred of evil. He certainly wouldn't step in to save her for her sake no matter how enticing she might be.
Paladins believe in Law and order, society, and goodness. Interestingly the dialogue between Minsc, Keldorn and the PC in the "Viconia at the burning stake scenario" actually goes counter to what I'd expect. Minsc is good for goodness sake withoud regard to how it's achieved but in this case he pleads for Viconia based on the fact that she's being executed by "mob rules." Keldorn, who you'd think would take the Lawful (orderly) path turns away and even encourages you to let her burn.
As a leader, this is your challenge. As a Paladin, Lawful and Good, I have handled the situation both ways - and felt guilty either way.
In a manner of speaking, this is quandry you face with Anomyn Delryn also. The Lawful path or justice as his father would have it.
As a Paladin or Lawful Good PC you are asked to negotiate both in character and with regard to your chosen alignment.
