I'm pretty convinced these threads are getting locked in a specific campaign to preserve my sanity. I opened a window to reply last night, decided to sleep on it instead, and wake up to find all my problems have been solved.

Agreed Mesina.  How are people bitter exactly?  We got what we wanted, Squaddies are returning, maybe not all of them in the same capacity, but they're returning nontheless.  The only ones who might be bitter would be those who might have claimed that 'due to the variables none of them will return'.

Not bringing everyone back makes ME2 pointless.

The whole idea was to create a team. For the collectors.....only? ....But the collectors work for the reapers. Why would this team suddenly break apart or not regroup?

As Mordin put it "Vorcha are a symptom, not a cause." ie "collectors are a symptom, not a cause."

Hudson already confirmed that the squad will be downsized and that most will not be permanent companions. Some might be back a permanent team members (though nothing is confirmed yet if you read all available information carefully) but most will either be only team members for a short time during specific missions or even just cameos.

This is both to restrict the influence of the variable status of the ME2 team (Midget is right even if he does not always use every word correctly) and to limit production cost since a temporary spot on the squad or a cameo is much cheaper to produce than a fully developed full time squad member.

My take on this.

What is there to discuss exactly?

1. All Mass Effect 2 squadmates have been confirmed to return.
2. Variables have been proven not to be complex.
3. There is no proof that ME2 squadmates will be less interactive.
4. There is proof to suggest that ME2 squadmates are more interactive.

Concerning the 'spiting' and 'bickering' that Elite Midget stuff that is throwing around, all I did was to point out trolling and report it as obliged by the Site Rules, what happenned and what didn't happen after than is completely unrelated to me.

The main crux of my argument is this:

Fewer characters makes sense, yes. A lot of people felt that some character development in ME2 was rushed and most characters had insufficient dialogue. Also, ME1 characters are more popular than ME2 characters (though Tali and Garrus, being in both, seem to top the popularity charts.) 

To me, this means that we'll get fewer new squadmates this game, and more old ones. I wouldn't be surprised if we get only one or two brand new, full-time squaddies, and six returning ones. Of course, four of these spots are probalby already taken by VS, Liara, Tali, and Garrus (note I say probably... I do believe there's a high chance that Garrus and Tali will be full time, though I don't believe it is guaranteed.) That leaves two spots for full time ME2 squaddies. If I had to guess who they'd be, I'd say either Miranda and Legion or Miranda and Thane (with Miranda and Jacob as the outside chance.)

Why? Because Miranda's ass has a definite marketing presence, and I'm pretty sure she's the most popular male LI. 

Yes, I'd rather have Mordin and Kasumi, but I'm not crazy. I think Mordin will be an NPC tech (hopefully aboard the Normandy at least some of the time, like Chakwas/Joker. Hope hope hope.) Kasumi will be a cameo, with a tiny tiny chance of them releasing a new DLC that adds back in a squaddie or two.

This is pretty much what I've been arguing since the beginning, and people like Zulu and Midget have been saying that I'm wrong. Now, sure, my original premise had all the LIs as permanent squadmates, because I didn't think they'd "screw over" different LIs like that, and I assumed ME3 would have 10 characters, with 2 DLC characters. That's probably not going to happen, and that's perfectly fair. I still don't see ME3 having fewer than 8 squadmates, but maybe I'm crazy.

You're in denial. Or maybe you aren't as smart as I gave you credit for. Anyone knows that this Topic isn't meant to establish civil discuession but to simply spite Zulu since a Mod locked the other Topic.

Bickering that not only was he a part of but encouraged and fanned the flames of. Make no mistake, he made this Topic to only spite those he disagreed with.

Thing is that popularity shouldn't decide development of a character. The story should. I shouldn't be forced to like or have a character on my squad because others like them and they now have to the it guy on the team.

I like Garrus and all but the Garrusmaners demand to be pleased and they thrust a guy, who failed at pretty much everything he's tried to do and hasn't been integral to the story line since he was trying to get info at the beginning of me1, into the main plot of a story because he's my waifu.

As for the topic, I fail to see what's the big deal. Oh, no that character is not a full-time squadmate, but (s)he's a cameo like Liara was in LotSB. Let's mope about it.
