All ME2 squadmates are integral to the plot. The whole game revolves about  Shepard finding them. ME1: Wrex and Garrus make no sense as to why the join you, Tali is an obvious plot device, Ashley makes little sense.

Actually, no. While Garrus and Wrex have no real purpose there is an option to not even take them. Due to popularity in Garrus, failed non-critical to story LI, is now inegral. Yet, my LI, perhaps gets a less than meaningful cameo because she/he was less important. Same goes for Tali, hasn't added anything to the main story line since beginning of me1.


As likeable as they are, popular LIs should not take priority over any other LI.

a. Garrus : Subtle morality background (black and white) that is all over the game (Cerberus, Geth morality etc.)
b. Tali: Introduce Geth/Quarian conflict, confirmed to be dominant in ME3.
c. You are not forced to take them. Even if ME3 doesn't give you an option.

Seriously... My two favorite characters aren't going to be permanent squadmates. Out of my top 5, only two are likely coming back. But I'm happy for what I'm getting.

Now, I do feel sorry for people whose top five characters are Morinth, Jacob, Kasumi, Zaeed, and Thane. But why can't anyone be happy for anyone else? Miranda is my least favorite character, but if she comes back I won't say "why did they have to bring back stupid Miranda rather than awesome Kasumi," because not everyone has to iike every character.

Isn't Miranda more of a sex object? She is a perfect made woman.

Don't get me wrong, I like Miranda a lot and I would be pissed if she's not a squadmate in ME3, but that claim is just ridiculous.

You started saying that no ME2 squadmates will be back, saying that the variables are too complex. The ME2 squadmate thing was proven wrong just now, and the variables thing a lot of time ago. You have posted no justification to rebutt that.

The game shouldn't be turned into a giant fan service that we all have to endure because, you know, that's what you like.



You all might like long love sequences but that shouldn't kill the ones I like or i miss out on a big chunk of story because I didn't choose the cool choice.

Yes it was. Liara is part of an optional Mission Chain that you can miss. It changes nothing in ME2 and it took a DLC to retcon her Mission Chain after fans made it known they were angry at Bioware.

a) You do nothing to dscourage it and your posts usually end up encourageing them to carry on. That makes you no better than them even if you don't outright say what you approve of them doing.

Yes I do. Though why should I? My Variable Topic was there to give reasons why none could return, wihtout retcons or denying fans huge swaths of content, and that no Killable should ever get Special Treatment over the others. Than Lo and Behold Tali and Garrus get special treatment AGAIN.

1st no she wasn't retconned
2nd that doesn't prove they are sex objects. My canon Shepard had offscreen sex with Tali, my FemShep canon same with Garrus, while my Sheploo had PG-13 sex with Miranda

Indeed. A LOT of Garrus fans didn't like him in ME1. I am counted among them. In ME1 my ranking of the squad went Wrex, Kaidan, Tali, Garrus, Ashley, Liara. I would rather have had Kaidan back in ME2 than Garrus when I started the game, but when I learned he wasn't a squadmate, and neither was Wrex, I dealt with it and decided to give the other characters a chance.

At retcon involves changing something, you goof. Nothing was changed. Tali's personality is the same as ever, and if you're a male Shepard you have an opportunity to see another side of it that's mostly a whole lot of nerves and apprehension over the risks of a cross-species Quarian/human relationship.
