Hello all

i have problems with ME in my system; sometimes in random places, my FPS droops to 40, and i dont know what can i do to solve this

the game is fully patched, and usually i get 60 FPS (vsync)

my system
Processor: AMD Phenom II (4cores) at 3400mhz
memory: DDR3 4.00GB
Graphic Card: ati 5850 Vram: 1GB
Driver: Catalyst 11.5 (i tried with Cat 11.0 and 11.4)
Sound: Asus Xonar DS
driver: 5.12.1.8
OS: Win 7 pro (64bit)
Directx: 10.0
HD: Caviar Black WD 500gb
REsolution display: 1680*1050 at 60Hz

I tried at default and changing in Catalyst driver to
Vsync, and triple Vsync mode

some help will be welcome

ahhh of course.

my post is because i see the % of working in the graphic card, and always is UNDER 50%.....

why do i have 50% of ussage and drops FPS???

It's quite normal to see framerate drops in this game in certain areas. The presidium is notorious for it 40fps is plenty though it's perfectly playable. I wouldn't worry about it.

hi mate!

im readiing in other forums, that many people play at 60FPS always with very similar PC's

i did some test (3d mark vantage and other games) and worked very well at 60FPS.

i can understand that my Graphic Card will be on 40FPS at 100% of GPU charge; but i cant understand playing with 40FPS and 50% of GPU charge!

Testing with other games is a bit pointless unless they are exactly the same engine,level of textures,graphical effects etc. Far too many variables in game design. I noticed you playing with vsync on. Have you tried turning it off? It should increase your FPS dramaticly. Vsync is a pretty pointless feature unless you have an older monitor with a slower refresh rate since you'll get screen tearing with it off. A lot of people don't even need to use it anymore since more modern monitors have a better refresh rate and don't need the FPS to be limited to the refresh rate.

Give it a try.

please, check my GPU % usage IN game, and see why am having drops to 40 FPS ...... 
My CPU usage never go above 60% ............

i dont know what is the problem but the game isnt running at full engine

any suggestions?

Just as food for thought, 40 fps is still very decent and most likely unnoticeable in any real since other than a number on the screen. ME also uses hidden loading of areas, so it is very possible that the machine is loading a bunch of info for the next area you are entering causing a slight drop in fps. If it stays above 30-40 I would not worry about it, and just enjoy the game, if you are seeing 10-20 FPS then start worrying if it happens for a long time.

someone can explain to me how can ME1 take 99% of 1core (3.400MHZ) during the game??

The game was designed to run on a single core only, because it came out well before multicore systems were out/popular.

i captured few screens where one of my cores was on 100% load.

i hope i will get better performance on ME2
