So I was going through my achievements in ME2 today to see
what I needed to work on when I noticed I don't have a lot of them that I
SHOULD have. Now this is my third play-through, so I should have most of them
(aside from 'Kill so many enemies in this way or with this weapon') but certain
achievements, like 'The Professor' and 'The Convict', aren't granted. Now
seeing as this is my third time playing through the game I should have had
these achievements two times over, and the fact that every other recruit team
member and all the loyalty missions (aside from many others) are already
granted, I know it's not the game just resetting because I'm on a new
character.



Also, I don't have the 'No Man Left Behind' achievement when I made it through
my first play-through with no one dying (I didn't save Kelly, though I'm not
sure if that makes or breaks the achievement) , other ones such as 'The
Ultimate Sacrifice' and 'Highly Trained' are also not granted, when I know I
have completed them.



As I play I'll keep an eye out and see if the achievements are granted this
time through, but aside from that I'm really just curious if anyone else has
had this problem and if they know how to resolve it (if there is a way.)

The player1.prf file is known to become corrupted upon the game crashing, and/or system rebooting due to heat or windows crashes.
The only way to make sure you dont lose out because of these issues, is to either make system restore points frequently, or backup the file manually somehwta regularly. it can be found in;
My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Profile\\player1.prf
