Is it really fair to attack the GI preview of Ashley as being dramatically oversexualized?

I took a look at it and decided that she was wearing a shirt that was a bit form fitting but terribly revealing or outrageous. Aside from the open collar it's really not that much worse from the human light armors in ME1.

I see plenty of girls wearing clothes that cover less than Ashley's in the GI pic on a day to day basis. But I'm seeing hordes of people saying she's dressed like a complete **** in a catsuit or something to that effect. I don't think that response is appropriate.

I think they're just upset because Ash is a "warrior" who is supposed to wear full body armour.

I don't mind form-fitting but when a character suddenly goes up about three cup sizes, alarm bells start going off.

People are angry because they are taking a person who wore actual armor and threw her into Miranda's lolspandex.

I like Jack not wearing clothes, but when she is in a space vacuum she should put on a suit, you know, so she doesn't die.

I don't see the complaints as legitimate. People have been complaining about breast size and her letting her hair down, but hair shouldn't even be an issue. That's a stylistic choice that has very little impact on the actual character.
As for bust? Well, in the picture, you can't even see more than an inch or two below her shoulder, and people are assuming that of course, since the suit looks less armor-like and more Liara's scientist/battlesuit-like from LotSB, Ashley MUST have bigger... tracts of land... than before.

But then, that's also ridiculous. We never saw her actual cup size, and even in military uniform, she had the same female body every other human NPC did. And that armor was restrictive, so you can't claim that the smaller-looking breast size wasn't caused by the armor strapping them down like a sports bra would. Which, y'know, it would logistically.

We don't even know if that's her casual wear or armor yet, so I honestly think the "attacks" are unjustified at this point.

Really...few inches below the shoulder?

Thats more then a few inches buddy...and thats about a 3 cup size difference...aside from that the complaint is they've "Mirandafied" her with the lolspandex and the shoddy make-up job...which they clearly have. Hair is not an issue as no one is really complaining about that...it's the blatent Miranda treatment shes getting thats the problem. And last I checked...armor don't have a skin-tight zipper.

I don't care about how her look... If she is still original (not ME2) Ashley, I love her.

See thats the source of the complaint...because Ashley would NEVER dress like this and is clearly just blatent fan-service.

Not a huge Ashley fan but i'll put my 2 cents worth in.

I think you need a similar angle(cross section view?) of her naked from ME1 to make a fair comparsion on bust size. ME1 armor always seemed one size fits all for ladies so not sure you can judge her from that. Also not sure that Ashley would not prefer armor that is contoured to her shape over the previous ill fitting shape.

Maybe, just maybe, if we focus on her fighting skills, we will see she is the same Ashley?

I have to point out it looks like a more casual wear, which if that was reintroduced would be awesome. She wore heavy armour in ME and ME 2 people are just jumping the gun. Probley just looking for attention or trying to pick a fight.

I'm hoping that it's just something formal for the trial, and she'll be back to wearing armour in missions and alliance uniform in the rest of the game. It seems foolish to become outraged so early.

Or maybe they're worried Bioware will repeat the same mistakes they made with ME2.

Many suspected Miranda's, Samara's, Jack's and Thane's outfits were all their 'casual wear' and that they'd eventually get armour.

They were wrong.

Besides, even if this outfit is her casual wear it does seem to be very much out of character.

remember ME2? Remember the "it's ok that's just Miranda's/Samara's/Jack's casual-wear, during combat they will wear armor" hopes?

Remember DA2? Remember the "it's ok that can't possibly be how Isabela dresses for combat" hopes?

yeah, we all know how that went...

1. Remember the backlash? Bioware will hopefully take that into account.

2. In a fantasy game, that makes more sense. The pirates she was based on did not wear armour.

So, it has to be tails again because we got tails twice when everybody predicted heads?
All we have is an early promotional image; we won't know until we get some screen shots from the finalish and attacking anyone based on speculation alone seems a bit unfair.

I must say, I bought the Appearance Pack 2 just so that Miranda was more tolerable.

I hope it's just Ashley dressed up for Shepard's trial or something. I agree that it doesn't seem very Ashley to be wearing long hair and makeup during combat, especially as Kaidan's armour is heavy Spectre armour, so I bet it's just what Ashley wears on special occasions.
