Is it really fair to attack the GI preview of Ashley as being dramatically oversexualized?

So you know how when someone says something unexpected you picture something strange in your mind's eye for a second? Well, I just did that with the term "boob bandwagon".
To make a long story short it pretty much included--
Well, you know what, you guys probably know what it included.

I mean I would have been first with the pitchforks if I thought the really changed her look all that much, but they didn't. She could have looked ridiculous if most video games are the comparison. Mass Effect has always been good at representing realistic looking women especially. Ash is no different. And I'm not sure what part of her updated look everyone thinks is so far off from her as a character...
Like I said, it won't be that bad if she's still good ol' Ash.

It's actually not any more form fitting than ME1's (look at what she wears on the ship it's skin tight), the problem some people have is it's overly sexualized. It's not that it's form hugging (Tali's outfits always been form hugging, it's that particular assets have been obviously enhanced for blatant sex appeal, and said form hugging outfit is designed specifically to expose those assets.
This outfit is remarkably out of character for the woman we met in ME1. Ash wasn't someone who used her looks to get ahead or distract from her flaws. She also didn't come across as someone who'd dress/act like someone she's not to please other people. You took her as she was or you weren't worth her time. Because this seems like something the Ash we know wouldn't wear it raises the concern that the character has been drastically changed. It's not about the appearance shift, it's about the implications of the appearance shift.

But really am I the only person who DOESN'T see that new outfit as a blatant "Ash is trying to be sexy" thing? I just see a uniform.... And surprise! She has breasts! Just because the uniform looks that way doesn't mean it's supposed to mean Ash is grabbing for male attention.

I think it would only be a big deal if she went around wearing that catsuit into battle, as some suspect. That would be drastically out of character, and thus a disservice to her. The boobjob isn't really a big deal (at least, specific to Ash) because, well, everybody got one of those.

She specializes in heavy armor. All evidence is to the contrary I think it was done to showcase her new, sexier look to the masses who have not played Mass Effect.

Being a Spectre >>>>> getting a makeover because "ooh, look at me, I'm a Spectre!" Ashley KNOWS what being a Spectre entails, so she knows it's not something to celebrate, especially since she's essentially Shepard's replacement. Maybe there's a little pride in that, but really, you know she only got it because she worked with Shepard and they wanted a new Alliance poster child. She'd see through the political BS in a minute, no matter how qualified she is. NOT shopping spree material.
Council: Congratulations, you've been selected to take Shepard's place and save the galaxy!
Ash: .... Ffffffffffff--
Becoming a Spectre is not a small thing, just ask Anderson & Hackett. Ashley would understand how important this is and hopefully she recognizes that she deserves it. After all, when Shepard came upon her at Eden Prime she had survived the Geth attack that took her squad. She was also part of the team that stopped Saren & the geth. That's a pretty tough woman! What she has done in the past two+ years is anyone's guess.
Did her history with Shepard help her get the status? Probably. An Ambassador, two Admirals, a turian and a quarian helped Shepard get his, along with whatever past you gave him. Plus, a crazed Spectre and the geth. No one gets where they are all on their own.
Outer appearance can reflect how we feel on the inside, just look at someone in the beginning phase of a relationship .. you know, that love glow. If Ash sees her promotion as something she "earned" and it helps take part of the tarnish off her family name ... that would gain her both pride and more confidence. Her makeover would not be to say "look at me I'm a spectre!" but more along the line of just feeling better about herself. But as I said earlier, I always thought that Ash did wear makeup and dress more feminine when she was with her sisters and family. If you don't see that with your Ash then I can understand why the new look throws you. If I thought of her as a strictly no makeup type of gal I would be WTF? ... Now in battle, I do want armour for her and not a skin tight outfit.
Until the game is out though, everything is pure speculation.

I'll be pretty annoyed if that's her battle armor, yes. But I don't see why it's all an uproar about it being all sex kitteny. I don't think it is. EVERYTHING IS TIGHT IN MASS EFFECT.

Here's the end-all be-all of my opinion... on the subject, not on boobs, enjoy:
Lets see, on the suit: If she fights in it, I call BS but as long as it stays on the ship, I LOVE IT. I'm trying to imagine what she's gonna look like in it. I imagine she's got a cute little butt, as oppossed to Miri's viscerally sexy fat butt. But then again that wouldn't work now that she has big boobs. Which brings me to my next point:
I don't like her new boobs. Makes me think she's going to have a body just like Miri's and I believe in the saying that variety is the spice of life.
Hair, whatever. Makeup, I never saw her as much of a makeup girl.
In conclusion I hope that she comes out looking a little more like her original self, but keeps the body glove. And that whatever significant changes there are to her personality and appearance we get to see evolve through the plot of the game, instead of randomly just showing up different from the start.
...boobs.

That's just it. I have a terrible, terrible feeling that this is her combat outfit. Neither ME2 nor DA2 implemented any kind of work/casual change of outfits outfits. the new policy seems to be "One Outfit to Rule Them All" And I have heard nothing to suggest ME3 will change anything.

I figure she does from time to time, but my view is not always. I am a guy who typically hates make-up on women because of the long-term effects most make-up out there has on the skin. I'm not a dermatologist, but if the one thing you're putting on your face to "make you beautiful" also forces you to continue to use it --or use more of it as time goes by-- to get the same effect I question the point of it all. So my stance is just be you and that's all that matters and yes I know that sounds incredibly cheesy.
My issue with some of the remarks in this thread is that Ashley putting make-up on is a sign of confidence or something and I find that wholly wrong. I can't help it. It's like this whole time you lived as you were and now that you're confident you're going to put on a different face? I thought confidence was about owning up to who and what you are and not trying to adopt a new facade or persona since not having confidence in yourself would entail hiding, subterfuge, obfuscation, or misdirection.
