Is it really fair to attack the GI preview of Ashley as being dramatically oversexualized?

Ash's new look is over-sexualised? Ahhh someone needs to look up a definition of that because she's no where near it. Unless her bottom part is covered in something completely revealing and will blind us all, I think it's more a case of people not liking her hair down.

I can see where they are coming from. But from what I'm seeing so far (which isn't much) it isn't near as bad as Samara or Miranda's outfits.

And Hudson was talking about squad customization earlier, so who knows.

Zero suit Ashley is still terrible and I don't buy into any of BW's claims without seeing hard evidence.

Elite, are you one of those people who thinks women should all wear burqas because they need to protected from the demeaning gaze of oh so evil men?

Way to leave Earth and go for the moon.  That's not what he's been saying at all.  You know, part of me thinks this is Bioware's way of screwing with L'Etoile.  It'd be pretty bad if they trash a strong female character to get back at her writer much like they screwed with the lore since, as I read, L'Etoile was responsible for that too.

There's a flaw in your theory yes Ash's writer maybe different, but Casey Hudson has said that the people doing the appearance updates for the characters are the ones who originally designed them. If your gonna blame a new writer for anything it would be a totally different personality which we can't judge yet cause we haven't seen Ash in action in ME3 yet.

I like Jack and what she got on. She goes around like that and she doesn't give a f*ck. That's cool!

Ashley on the other hand is an alliance infantry soldier and proud of it. You should understand that abandoning her usual soldier attire for a body glove is something surprising. I would be surprised too if they released a picture of Jack with an Alliance armor. It's just not like her. But hey, anything for a wider audience.

Well Jack was marketed as "The Biotic ****!!!"  Oh yeah baby!!!!  Lmao!

Gezz! As if we weren't capable of figuring that out for ourselves during the course of play.  It sort of reminds of the stupid lad magazines like Maxim where they post a girl on the cover and go, "This Girl Is HOT!!" or This is the IT Girl!!"

I don't need anyone to tell me that a woman is hot, I'm perfectly capable of deciding who I find attractive or not.  But as I said before, if you're lacking imagination then you probably need these descriptions and buzz words to help you out.

Kind of like how everything in ME will be AWESOME. lol!  More awesome and more badass then ever before!  In fact ME3 will be awesomer and even more badass than ME2's awesomeness and badassness!  SO THERE! :D

Seriously guys, Bioware never used to talk this way, they never had to talk this way.  This game studio has built a reputation behind solid game playing experiences.   What's with all the boobs and pubescent foolishness now? Did we all suddenly become stupid?!  Do they really think that all gamers are knuckle dragging morons who would be impressed with this?

And just so that there's no misunderstanding, I think Miranda's apple bottom is cute, but I didn't need for it to take up half the screen during conversations. Ahahahahaha!   If anything the writers seemed to have more respect for the characters than the artists responsible for rendering them.   Because never at anytime does Miranda behave in a demeaning manner.  Sure she's a complicated person,  and a frustrated narcissist,  and nobody on ship gets along with her...................okay I'm not helping my argument anymore.   *clears throat*  My point is Miranda isn't a ****, so why did the Bioware feel the need to continue to shamelessly flash her wares in our faces at every opportunity?

Eh, let me come to the point.    Bioware stop screwing around and put some armor on the Alliance Soldier Ashley Williams.

she looked fine without any make-up on and stylish hair. don't even know why the devs transformed her like this, it's just not practical on the battlefield. guess the devs are being horny.

What? Not everyone here has bought DA2. HP knows I haven't, based on reviews from trusted sources.

There might be Squad Customisation, don't just dismiss it. ME3 most likely has more resources based on the success of ME2, and now they have an extra quarter year to improve the game.

EDIT: Blah, you made me misspell "customisation" :pinched:

Methinks that IS armor, judging by the metal shouldershield, and if she had those things that tightly squeezed throughout ME1, no wonder she had that aggressive streak...
Furthermore, seems to me Miranda served the purpose of turning Ashley into a lady, of sorts...just in time for her to rejoin the fun on the battlefield, crawling through the mud and being blown right and left by assorted explosions.

Yeah....not liking the 'twin of Miranda'-thing she seems to have going in that pic. But as I saw no problem with Miranda's original outfit(making me wonder wth that asari was talking about on her loyalty mission), I see no problem with the 'new' ashley, as presented. Y'know, aside from the Miranda-genes and lack of armor in a combat situation.

Midget, you are a joke. You say Ash's new look is demeaning because it is sl*tty. It isn't in the slightest. You then say that being a 'sl*t' is demeaning and shows no self respect, thus revealing your backwards, sexist social views. I haven't ignored you, I have answered all your posts but there is no objective logic present in your arguments, just a lot of assumptions and subjective opinions. I see no wrong with Ash's new look whatsoever. She is a free strong independent woman and can dress as she pleases. She isn't poledancing for money so no retcon has been made.

Unfortunately, that's a very vague statement, which could mean just about anything.

And while yes, they are two seperate teams, I somehow doubt they are sequestered in seperate locked rooms while working at projects.  There is no way "Ser Conrad Vernhart" was just made up, after all Image IPB

I'm hoping; praying really to every deity, demon, and devil I can find; that that's just an underlay and the hard plates of her armor attach to points like that shoulder shield.  If ME3 comes out and Kaidan is wearing more armor than Ash (in combat she can run around the Normandy naked for all I care) I'm going to be pissed.

I agree it is a very vauge statement. It could mean anything. Just putting it out there, giving some bg info. And yes they are totally locked out. They cannot talk to each other. Ever. At all. WAAAAA MY WHOLE WORLD IS CRUMBLING AND IS NOT HOW I REMEMBER. mmmmm caps. makes me cool:police:

Yes and no. BioWare has multiple studios. One in Montreal, edmonton and Texas. Texas is doing TOR, edmonton does both ME and DA, and I have no idea what montreal does. I think it might help out with ME and DA.

I don't know why this just occurred to me, but I do remember Trek fans having a similar debate years ago when Jeri Ryan was first introduced to Voyager as Seven of Nine.

The discussion was very much along the same lines and divided Trek fans who thought she was a step backwards in terms of roles for women in the Trek universe. Especially when you consider that Voyager put the first woman in the captain's chair.

Season 4 was when it started, there was a sudden and powerful urge to widen Voyager's audience. Enter the Uber Borg Babe, complete with skin tight catsuit and high heels.

It seems that there are five opinions on this subject.  There are Ashley fans who like the change (Ashley growing as a character), there are Ashley fans who hate the change (they see it as character derailment), there's Ashley haters who like the new look (they think she's hotter), there's Ashley haters who now hate Ashley even more, and finally there's the vast majority of people who have no strong feelings toward Ashley or her choice of clothing.

Ashley's character is not being derailed, and it is incredibly premature to say such from one picture that may just be concept art.  If you don't like the change, that's fine, but don't claim that she's ruined forever because she changed her look (something that women in any universe do all the time).  If it ruins your perceptions of Ashley's character then I think that's a case of seeing what you're afraid of (or want to see).  It's a simple (not very revealing by videogame standards) top/outfit and a hair change.  There is no way to prove that her boobs are bigger, and until that proof comes, you won't convince me on that subject.

Everyone needs to take a chill pill, if you'll pardon my lame 90's slang.

But I cant, its ruined her character forever. The world is changed forever. Nothing will ever be the same.

On a serious note though. I agree but I dont think people will as you say take a chill pill. They like to pick apart everything, thats how these forums are. I persoanlly dont dislike her new look. I didnt dislike her old look. And Ill buy the game, and not complain about it either way. BioWare hasnt let me down yet

Sorry, your ignorance isn't worth trying to understand. Though I see that you avoided my last remarks and intead are touching on this subject again since you have no merit in your weak arguement.

Furthermore you fail. You have NOTHING to countetr what Aashley has said in ME1 and ME2 that completely condradicts what sh'es forced to wear by Bioware in ME3 to sell her as a **** since sex sells.
