Is it really fair to attack the GI preview of Ashley as being dramatically oversexualized?

i only say what's obvious. If you consider a game like DA2 as Bioware Quality than you have bad taste and it shows how far many fans have gone when they used to demand greatness.

You're out, than good. Your ignorance wont be missed.

Sorry  for coming back but I feel I need to make one last point. Even though Im pretty sure Im being trolled hard-f*cking-core

Im trying to be polite here, Ive been polite, please dont slap my face and call me ignorant. By the definition I am not ignorant. Here is the defenition below if you want to inform yourself.

ignorant-adjective
1.lacking in knowledge or training, unlearned
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a subject orfact
3. uninformed;unaware.

I am none of them. I am in school to become probably a game designer, I have 2 games on the go right now. I do not lack knowledge. I have seen the pic of ash, I have played ME2 and DA2.

As for telling me I have bad taste, again subjective. Dont tell me what I have good or bad taste in. Was it not BW quality. Meh i dont base it on that. Was it fun to play, yup. enjoyed it, played it twice.

Sorry for the off topic rant. Good day, Im going to draw out some concepts for some characters in my own games and their armour (since they are spec ops soldiers) I think will be just a bra and panties.

Peace and love, dont call me ignorant again, please.:kissing:

There were problems with Tali? Probably why Ashley took the quarian's rightful place opposite Garrus on the packaging. (wt)Hell does it say to have one alien and two humans? We know humans will be there. They always are.
As to the original question of this thread? No. But game companies let out a picture, people will attack it if only to have done so. Humans...Still not seeing much of this 'progress' we're supposed to have been doing. good night.

I hope they do change Ash's outfit. And make it even more sexy and revealing. Just to hurt you Midget. I will collect your tears of prude rage as they fall.

Elite isn't the only one who wants armour.
According to most polls on this site the majority of fans would prefer armour over catsuits, and not because of prudery but out of a sense of consistency and believability.

Look at ME1: Full body armour in combat, casual clothes on the Normandy and butt nekkid in sex scenes.

That's how it should be

They have magical healing properties, don't'chaknow. The entire Mass Effect series is a government-funded ploy to collect as many of them as we can.

It doesn't need be a fact when I'm right. DA2 was a disapointment. It's sales, reviews, and the outcry on these forums is clear as day that it was a bad game. It doesn't deserve to bear the Bioware title since it isn't anywhere near as good as a real Bioware title. Any Bioware Fan with half a brain can tell you this after all it's bltantly obvious and in your face,

So yes. It is bad taste. Any Gamers that believe DA2 is as good as DA:O or ME2 has bad taste when they except things from Bioware.

It occurs to me that implying you're an elitist would be sort of like accusing the kettle of being a kettle, what with your screen name and all. Still, I do mean to imply that you're an elitist, and that might not have been clear enough in the first sentence. That's why I had to call you an elitist a second time just now.

The professional reviews of DA2 were generally favorable, getting around the B range. It may not have lived up to the expectations of many fans but I think the consensus of most critics and average gamers is that DA2 is an enjoyable, if not entirely refined or finished product. In the whole spectrum of games, it is not a "bad" game.

If you want to talk about mediocre games, try something like APB: All Points Bulletin or Command and Conquer 4. If you want to talk about truly HORRENDOUS games that should never have been made, try Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

I personally think Kaidan's armor looks incredible.  Yes, heavier than a sentinel should have, gameplay-wise.  But I think it makes for a great "human Spectre" look.  It's my belief that Ash should have a similar look.  But no, her look makes it questionable that she's wearig armor at all.

Shepard wears armor
Nihlus wore armor
Saren wore armor
Tela Vasir wore armor
Kaidan wears armor
Ash gets a jumpsuit./possible catsuit

One of these things is not like the other...

I know the answer!!!

Nihlus is the odd one out. Cause Shepard wasn't responsible for his death :D

I don't think anything can really compare to Big Rigs, after all, that game is legendary in its own way by now...

That aside, the user reivews of DA2 averaged out gave a clear picture of how users overall viewed the game compared to other Bioware games. The difference is quite clear in how it was received among actual users.

Ultimately, it's the users the product is supposed to be made for, yes?

Could you link me to the poll?

This poll which so far has 1291 votes asks "Do you want your squad members to wear armor?"
67% want armor whereas only 33% prefer the 'outfits'

And to a lesser extent

This poll which so far has 2714 votes asked "what kind of armor system would you prefer for ME3?"
1905 of the 2714 (70%) want "every team member to get a modular, customizable, armor like Shepard's N7 in ME 2."

Which confirms that the majority would prefer customizable armours instead of ME2's unchangable 'iconic outfits'

The latter poll begs the question: Does Bioware have enough resources to actually create customisable armour?

The success of ME2 most likely means a bigger budget for the third game, but I doubt they could actually make separate pieces of armour for separate characters models. Alternate armours/outfits is plausible, though.

There was sort of a crapload of armor in ME1, so I am guessing they could do it.  I mean,  they made Phoenix armor for krogan in ME1.  Phoenix armor.

There wouldn't have to be major differences between Liara, Ash, and fShep armor.  Little details.  I think they could do it.

So Bioware decided that 1/3 of squadmates should wear catsuits. :wizard:

Bioware learns, right? EA may have a reputation of being evil but I'm positive they'll make sure everything is right. They learnt from Miranda that catsuits don't fly with a major part of the community, since they fixed her up with Inferno Armour in DLC.

Taking EA into consideration, we'll probably have to pay extra for an AAP. >:P

I have to be a critical of the way the question was posed in the first poll. While I'm not opposed to having squadmates suit up, the poll essentially asks a leading question that is also loaded. I could create a survey that asks whether they want their characters all wearing the same bland armor or whether they would prefer variety and recognizable looks. It would likely contradict the findings of the surveys you linked. However, that is bad survey design. When it states the following:

"In Mass Effect 2 many of your squad members run around in battle wearing ordinary clothes (or... next to nothing in Jack's case). Do you prefer this, or would you rather things be like ME1 where everybody wore the same kind of armor as Shepard?"

I think it guides a significant number of users to answer in a way the author of the poll intends by creating bias through phrases like "or... next to nothing."

The second poll is better in that it is slightly more objective. However, it is still a loaded question, and the results are more of an indication of player's desire for choice and customization - and less for requiring all squadmates be plated up in full body armor.

I would recommend people who make surveys on this site read this first: http://s3.amazonaws....SmartSurvey.pdf

I think accurately capturing the opinions of the community on armor choice and style would involve have to involve multiple polls with different questions sets. If you'd like I could try designing some.

A better question would be: "What do you think is more important: Designing characters' appearances to be unique and memorable, or designing them to be realistic and practical?"

The options would be:
-I strongly prefer unique and memorable appearances, even if they are less realistic or practical.
-I generally prefer unique and memorable appearances, even if they are less realistic or practical.
-I slightly prefer unique and memorable appearances, even if they are less realistic or practical.
-I value both uniqueness/memorability as much as realism and practicality in appearance.
-I slightly prefer realistic and practical appearances, even if they are less unique and memorable.
-I generally prefer realistic and practical appearances, even if they are less unique and memorable.
-I strongly prefer realistic and practical appearances, even if they are less unique and memorable.
-I do not have a preference.

KillerAngel, APB has been pulled and is due to be rereleased this year under a slightly different name. They've fixed their mistakes and it should be a pretty good MMO. The customisation especially is fantastic.

You're asuming that people making those surveys actually want an objective opinion. In most cases, they don't, but prefers to try and use it to propagate their own viewpoint.

I'm hoping that's true. I beta tested it and back then, it was awful. The customization could not save it.

This is why I have released a new poll that features unbiased language in an attempt to more accurately capture community opinions. Poll is here: http://social.biowar...95/polls/20036/

I won't have any reasonable conclusions until I get a sample size of at least 50, but in my small sample so far a majority of people seem to prefer "unique and memorable appearances, even if they are less realistic or practical."

I say that Garrus in ME2 proves that not only can you have a cool memorable outfit, it can look practical and realistic aswell. The two are not opposits.

Hence, the option "I value both uniqueness/memorability as much as realism and practicality in appearance."
