Is it really fair to attack the GI preview of Ashley as being dramatically oversexualized?

I say that Garrus in ME2 proves that not only can you have a cool memorable outfit, it can look practical and realistic aswell. The two are not opposits.

To be fair, Garrus was also the only Turian on our crew, which causes his physique to impose a natural 'unique' look to any armor he wears. Just like Grunt did.

A better question would be: "What do you think is more important: Designing characters' appearances to be unique and memorable, or designing them to be realistic and practical?"

I say that Garrus in ME2 proves that not only can you have a cool memorable outfit, it can look practical and realistic aswell. The two are not opposits.

Hence, the option "I value both uniqueness/memorability as much as realism and practicality in appearance."

I know but most people seems to think that having realistic yet cool looking armor is impossible.

Can you back that assertion up?

Garrus's and Grunt's armor looks unique even compared to other Turian/Krogan.

The only thing I found memorable about Garrus' armour is the shoulder pads and the colour. AAP armour might have been fixed, but it just didn't feel the same. ME3 Garrus ain't gonna be blue, but I'm fine with it since it seems to have the same circle-pattern as Ashley's shoulder pad. I love character-styalised uniforms :D

Garrus wearing heavy Turian armour developed by the Systems Alliance.
Ash wearing a streamlined N7 suit.
...
My other favourite characters are either crippled (Joker, Thane) or not a squaddie or Alliance (Mordin, Wrex) D:

I honestly don't see the change in her bust at all. Looks more or less the same. (New and exciting idea! maybe its the fact the camra is at a close up shot that her chest looks bigger?) I don't really care that her hair is down and I'm not sure that she even keeps that armor for very long. They might do what DA2 did with squad armor and you can upgrade it to improve it. (making her armor look heavier) We'll learn more when E3 comes out hopefully.

This. A thousand times this.

Also, to the people calling it a ****ty attire; Thane and Tali wear form-fitting clothes in combat too. OMG THEY MUST BE ****S AMIRITE?!

A thousand times a thousand times.  What the squaddies have and what Ash is shown in are fine for on the ship, but when the bullets are flying and you're in hazardous environments or the vacuum of space hardsuits all around.

Well considering how Tali's willing to jump you with little to no encouragement...(I kid of course).  Thane's outfit is ridiculous in combat (it's a leather coat) and Tali's been wearing the same thing since ME1, there's a logical reason for it to be the way it is (loose fitting clothes could snag and tear especially when working as an engineer).  The reason there's an issue is because it's Ash.

If this were an entirely new character you wouldn't hear a peep beyond the odd grumbling about a Miranda clone.  What she's wearing could be something similar to Asari Commando leathers (what they wore in ME1) and could fit a new character with a similar fighting style.  Ash doesn't dress like that.  She doesn't dodge bullets she soaks them up until she can blast the poor bastard with her boomstick.  She's a tank, heavy armor and heavy weapons, not a Humvee.

As for people saying it might not be her in-combat outfit every other image I've seen has shown characters apparently combat ready (Garrus, Kaidan, Liara) so the concern that that's all we're getting is entirely valid.

Hah, you say I'm such and such than you make a post like this. Seriously, why must you continue to describe yourself to me? I already know that you're nowhere near as intelligent as I.

Sorry  for coming back but I feel I need to make one last point. Even though Im pretty sure Im being trolled hard-f*cking-core

Im trying to be polite here, Ive been polite, please dont slap my face and call me ignorant. By the definition I am not ignorant. Here is the defenition below if you want to inform yourself.

ignorant-adjective
1.lacking in knowledge or training, unlearned
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a subject orfact
3. uninformed;unaware.

I am none of them. I am in school to become probably a game designer, I have 2 games on the go right now. I do not lack knowledge. I have seen the pic of ash, I have played ME2 and DA2.

As for telling me I have bad taste, again subjective. Dont tell me what I have good or bad taste in. Was it not BW quality. Meh i dont base it on that. Was it fun to play, yup. enjoyed it, played it twice.

Sorry for the off topic rant. Good day, Im going to draw out some concepts for some characters in my own games and their armour (since they are spec ops soldiers) I think will be just a bra and panties.

Peace and love, dont call me ignorant again, please.:kissing:

So not only are you ignorant and naive but you're a liar and a hypocrite as well. Now that we have that established I believe we can move forward from this. Perhaps even get you the education you so desperately require so you can begin making much more intelligent posts than this drivel which insults the intelligence of all those around you.

I hope they do change Ash's outfit. And make it even more sexy and revealing. Just to hurt you Midget. I will collect your tears of prude rage as they fall.

Another ignorant and selfish post made by you? Why am I not surprised. Though this is just like you. When you lose an arguement you than turn it into you and the guy that bested you with his/her surperior intelligence. News flash the majority here want Ashley in armor as well and not just me. So next time try and think before you make such ignorant posts.

I have to be a critical of the way the question was posed in the first poll. While I'm not opposed to having squadmates suit up, the poll essentially asks a leading question that is also loaded. I could create a survey that asks whether they want their characters all wearing the same bland armor or whether they would prefer variety and recognizable looks. It would likely contradict the findings of the surveys you linked. However, that is bad survey design. When it states the following:

"In Mass Effect 2 many of your squad members run around in battle wearing ordinary clothes (or... next to nothing in Jack's case). Do you prefer this, or would you rather things be like ME1 where everybody wore the same kind of armor as Shepard?"

I think it guides a significant number of users to answer in a way the author of the poll intends by creating bias through phrases like "or... next to nothing."

The second poll is better in that it is slightly more objective. However, it is still a loaded question, and the results are more of an indication of player's desire for choice and customization - and less for requiring all squadmates be plated up in full body armor.

I would recommend people who make surveys on this site read this first: http://s3.amazonaws....SmartSurvey.pdf

See, you provide not only one source of information to back your arguement but two. Guess what? They, like the poster I quoted, say those are biased and invalid thus without merit. It's what I've been saying all along. You can't teach the ignorant when they refuse to believe anything but what they want to believe. People like this can't be entrusted to continue encourageing Bioware to make great games from hencefoth on. No, that's why people like us have to constantrly put them in their place since our views are informed and ecompass more than just what 'we' want.

Ashley's not gonna be picking up Cerberus hunks. She's gonna be punching bullet holes through their head and abdomen. Most likely she'll need protection from holes on her own person.

I support armour for Ash-In-Battle!

I prefer Ashley as she was in ME 1. I do not want her to look like this. Cause if she does, I'm going to tell her off like she did to me on Horizon
