 Bioware,
no brasil há milhares de jogadores de Mass Effect e muito fãs da
franquia, mas como todo bom jogador de rpg sabe que para pode se
envolver na história tem que dominar muito bem a lingua inglesa, fazendo
assim a desistência e um público menor para o game, já que quem não
domina o idioma não consegue jogar.

Por favor ainda há tempo para fazerem a legenda (PT-BR ou PT-PT)

Mass effect e Mass Effect 2 foram lançados pela EA aqui no brasil e nenhum nos dos dois tiveram legendas, um descaso total.

I don't know much costs to translate the english subtitles to any other language, but it would be nice to make the series more accessible to more people.

Though I don't need it I think It would be great! Lots of people don't play it cause they don't speak english. But If you (bioware/ea) decide to do that, do it right, don't make the same mistake that Mortal Kombat did (really bad translation).

While we're asking for portuguese subtitles, can we get those in european portuguese aswell? Brazillian portuguese and european portuguese might seem the same to outsiders, but they vary substantially grammatically, phonetically and orthographically.
There are also words that exist in one language but not the other and even some words have different meanings/connotations.

I'm working in a translation of ME2 to brazilian portuguese, I and others already translate almost half of the game, it has a huge amount of lines and it requires a lot of time.

Everyone in the project have other things to do (work, school, family) and it still will take some time, but eventually we'll launch it.

Reconheço que na lingua portuguesa de portugal e a do brasil tem várias diferenças porém isso não afeta em quase nada o entendimento,  em um jogo onde o foco é saber a história e ficar o tempo todo lendo textos, qualquer parte em que o mesmo seja de sua lingua nativa já ajudaria de uma forma gigantesca.

As a brazilian myself, I totally support this. It's sad that I love ME so much and I can't recommend the game to...10% of my friends since they don't speak english. And I think that it's too much just think that they must learn english before trying some games, please, learning a new language takes at least some few years, obviously those people could not play ME3.

And brazilian or european portuguese, I don't care, at least a version of portuguese subtitles would be wonderful.

There's also the possibility that some are thinking if there's spanish subtitles/speech in game that that's good enough despite the fact that while there's some common roots linguistically, they're not the same language.

Case in point, I can read spanish fairly decently and can get some of the gist of what Luiz wrote but some words are just too different.

PT-PT and PT-BR may be very different in a few aspects, but you will always understand what they are saying whether you are from Brazil, Portugal, Angola or East Timor. I'm from southern Brazil and I can understand PT-PT perfectly. Right now I don't think it's appropriate to start a new translation since it may delay the development of the game, but it should come out as a patch later on.

I'd be very happy if we had PT-BR subtitles for Mass Effect. I really think Brazil has shown that it is a country with a respectable amount of consumers, and that it should get some attention from developers.

This is a noble cause, but my pet peeve is that due to my most fluent language being English, I have much difficulty playing games translated into the native language. No offense.
