I bet that Dashing King of Thieves stole her........
He then lost her on account of not being a competent kidnapper.

I hope that DA3 doesn't end the same way that the first two did.

Because Bioware has decided that each game should have a new protagonist a la Elder Scrolls, and the writers can't seem to think of any better method of wiping the slate clean than the riding into the sunset cliche. I keep hoping that they'll surprise us and the Warden (and Hawke, I guess, but he wasn't that interesting of a character) get a proper end, but that probably won't happen.

If the story was never intended to go on, I would prefer to have a memorable death. Personally.

Hopefully, the death of Hawke marks them not using the dialouge wheel anymore in future installments. And the voiced PC, since it apparently limits you to one race(I only played human twice in Origins, and Elf five times).

Exactly. I would have been perfectly fine with the Warden dying in order to kill the Archdemon at the Battle of Denerim if it weren't for Morrigan's offer, Awakening, and Witch Hunt. The revelation that a Warden must die in order to kill the Archdemon was a great plot twist, and to have the Warden be forced to make that sacrifice would have been a bittersweet ending. With Morrigan's mysterious plan for the OGB, her use of the Eluvian in Witch Hunt, the ambiguity surrounding the true nature of Flemeth and her plans, and the whole issue of sentient darkspawn in Awakening, the story really feels like it needs the Warden around to resolve it.
With Hawke, he spent most of the game as an errand boy and had no part in the climax of the story. Anders was more of a protagonist than Hawke. Still, having Hawke disappear into the night is frustrating. If Hawke sided with the mages, he should have become a leader of the mage rebellion. If Hawke sided with the templars, he should have become a leader of the vigilante templar group that left the Chantry in order to suppress the mage rebellion. If Hawke tried to remain neutral throughout Act 3 by attempting to convince everyone to take it down a notch and solve things peacefully, he should have died in the ensuing violence--a tragic casualty caught in the crossfire between two opposing forces.

Siding With Templars: Too much pressure as vicount?
To add to the off topic discussion: Hawke and LI went on the run, not siding with anyone, just RUN!

Indeed. My Hawke finally found that magic "Get out of Kirkwall" card . . . .

Ugh. Kirkwall was a cesspit, all the money in the world wasn't enoug reason for my Hawke to stay there.

Yeah, that's what Varric said in my ending.
