Is it possible for Kaiden to live if I send him with the nuke instead of Kirrahe?

You choose Ashley or Kaidan to live or die, but Kirrahe will live or die depending on what you do getting to that point. If you finish all the little stuff, ie destroy the com tower, blow up the geth flyers and don't send the guards to the other side of the base clearing if for you then Kirrahe lives. So it doesn't matter where you go or who you choose to live or die in Ash/Kai, when it comes to Kirrahe's fate.

Actually, you have to choose the AA tower for Kirrahe to live, or he won't be able to make it on board the Normandy before the nuke goes off. He's always at the AA tower at the end with the squaddie you picked. And that's regardless if you do all the little things.mcsupersport wrote...

So, basically, you have to do all the side objectives, and the one planting the nuke has to die for Kirrahe to live.
You don't have to choose the AA tower for Kirrahe to live! He lived in my playthrough and Kaidan planted the Nuke and got saved, I never went to the AA tower.
The only thing required for Kirrahe to live is for you to do all the mini-objectives on Virmire, and not set off the alarms where he is (to clarify, you get a choice to just turn the security off, or set it off somewhere else. Just turn it off.)

It is really stupid that the Salarians can make it from the AA tower if you go back to the nuke, but your squadmate can't. It would have made more sense to make it dependent but it doesn't so, it is what it is.

they are not making it from AA tower. they were split into 3 distraction groups. Kirahhe and the other team made it to the randevu point, while VS's team got pinned down at the tower. that's why saving Kirrahe doesn't depend on going to AA tower but rather diverting some of the Geth from them.

Only problem with that theory is Kirrahe is on the tower during the fight against Saren if you go to it, but never at the bomb site......plus it is his voice setting the bomb to take out the other AA tower.

never seen him there, just random salarians - which is as it should be, considering Ash/Kaidan get to lead their own team there, not just come along for the ride (listen to the communications - he mentions all 3 teams, coordinates them via information fed by whoever went with salarians). the way I see it - Normandy picked everyone after dropping off the nuke. and of course he kills the other AA tower - wasn't that the whole point? to disable defenses so that Normandy could land with the Nuke? it just so happened that AA tower where VS is, got hit harder then the rest of them

Kirrahe will always be at the AA tower among the other Salarians if you go up there, even if he's dead from what I could tell. That part was a glitch but I figured the idea was that if you went up there then he escaped with you to the Normandy, if you didn't go there then Kirrahe and his team turned out to have been somewhere else and escaped another way.

Should you choose to guard the nuke, Kirrahe and his men make a risky escape while your squadmate goes all heroic and holds off the Geth from pursuing them. Your squadmate of course dies in the blast, but apparently buys Kirrahe and his men enough time to escape the blast... I guess they took your Mako to expedite the escape since it's on the ship afterwards and there's no way they'd escape the blast radius on foot. Again, forgive me for not remembering where this sequence of events is mentioned.
