So far I have 400 paragon points I heard it is quite high to be able to choose the paragon option so you still get the option of going both ways for a bit but I was wondering is it possible to do this on a fresh playthrough or do you need to play a second time where you get a a headstart in Paragon anyone know the exact number or how many bars you need to be able to select the paragon option? Thank you.
Anyone know how much Paragon points you need to stop Jack and Miranda's fight?

There is no direct amount. P and R is calculated using an over-complicated system that I don't care to remember.
Some tips though to maybe help you out.
1. Respec your shep into using your evolved power that gives the 100%boost to your P and R score.
2. Try not to do both Loyalty missions as long as you can to build up your P and R score.
3. If all else fails, you either have to reload an earlier save, or start all over.

The way that the Paragon/Renegade system works in ME:2 is basically this:
Whenever you go somewhere new, say the first time you visit the Citadel, the game logs all of the possible Paragon and Renegade points that you could get at the Citadel. Everything from store discounts to helping Lia Vael, dealing with the reporter etc. It then checks what you currently have and works out a percentage. So imagine if you went to the Citadel got a Paragon store discount in one shop then left. The next time you have a Paragon/Renegade check it weighs up what you currently have against everything you could have had and you end up being short.
Yeah, its stupid.

I've found it easier to pass that check if I do Miranda's LM right after Horizon and Jack's LM right after that.
I take all the Paragon (or Renegade) dialog options, and make sure I complete all the city assignments on Omega, the Citadel and Illium.

I haven't had a problem because I do something similar to yuckygeo. I usually play full paragon, with a few renegade interrupts, and do one (either Miranda or Jack) right after Horizon, then do the second one right before I go to get the IFF. I've never had a problem, the points are maxed out by then. I guess I could wait and do them both right before the IFF mission, but I like to spread them out.

I buggered up the Miranda/Jack fight in my first playthrough, my paragon Shep did too many renegade things. Took Miranda's side, Jack's crazy.

If you imported a character from ME you get about 190 points (full moral bar). With this you can comfortably use either class level four and still pass the check. I usually wait until my paragon bar is full before doing both of their missions.

people often get this confused. the dialogue checks are based on percentages. Ultimately, the amount of points you have doesn't matter. The paragon / renegade bars are particularly misleading.
paragon would be: Paragon points over total paragon points that have thus far been possible to achieve.
Because of this, it is advised to do the difficult dialogue checks early in the game, because you have less possible points. I believe points are added when you land on hub worlds, etc. So be sure to get all discounts as soon as you land.
It's reccomended to do Samara, Tali, and Jack/Miranda's loyalty missions early on as you will have less total points accumulated, and the dialogue checks easier to obtain. If you do these early, and stick to either paragon or renegade, you shouldn't have any trouble.
The only hard dialogue check really is the tali/legion argument, which pretty much requires an entirety of rene or para responses/playthrough.

Remember you don't necessarily have to stop the fight. You can come back and talk to whoever you slighted once you get enough paragon points any time before the suicide mission and win them back.

Import an ME1 Paragon save, choose the passive that increases your P/R score 100%, and do both their loyalty missions right after Horizon.
Voila, you'll ace the check every time. Hell, if you got some Renegade points along the way, you might be able to have both charm options available simultaneously (I've done this, several times)!

All you have to do is do Miranda's and Jack's loyalty missions RIGHT after Horizon. Don't even recruit Samara or Thane yet.

I found that having too much of both tends to screw you over. I was usually able to stop the fight without losing loyalty when there was a huge gap between my Paragon and Renegade scores. In other words, consistency in how your Shephard behaves. When I tried an inconsistent Shephard with roughly even Paragon/Renegade scores I couldn't keep both loyal.

all you need is minerals. go to the research station and re-allocate your powers and max out the one that boosts your dialog skill (I think for infiltrator it was "agent" or something), Then after you fix Jack and Miranda, go re-allocate again back the way you want it.
