I have no idea if it stacks, but on higher difficulties it would be challenging to use both due to cooldown restraints.

If you want really strong shields use Energy Drain as your bonus power. It will add to your shield if your at 100% or replenish it if you are >100%. You can pretty much punch everything on Insanity with Assault Armor+Energy Drain.

You get Energy Drain though kind of late in the game (Tali's Loyalty Mission), but on a second playthrough you could have it from the very start :).

I believe it does stack, but Fortification is a horrible power. Do not take it.

Barrier and Geth Shield Boost fill the same role but both are better because they benefit from biotic/tech cooldown reduction. Fortification is a combat power and does not.

But strive's suggestion is much better. Energy Drain is fantastic for Sentinels. Stasis is also a very good option.

There is no true armor stat for Shepard in ME2, and thus any of the "protection" bonus powers effect his "shield". This is entirely funny because Geth Shield boost will pump up an Adept's Barrier since that is what they call it for adepts, but it is really just Shepard's shield. So the reason Fortification is so bad for Shepard is it effects his shield or assault armor for Sentinels and doesn't get any bonus to cooldown or duration like tech powered Geth Shield Boost or the Biotic powered Barrier skills. Thus Fortification doesn't last as long and takes longer to cooldown later int he game than either of the other two powers that do the exact same thing.

What he said. But in the end, yes, it does stack. But it only increases your shields by the base value, not your new total. So say you had 100 shield, and you use Assault Armor. It increases by 75%, so it would be 175. Then you use Heavy Fortification, which increases your shields by 100%. It would be 275, not 350. I believe this same thing applies to upgrades (upgrades are ignored when boosting shield strength). There is a stack, but the effects are quite as impressive as you think.

Don't really see the point, but there you have it. Personally I only care about Fortification for the instant-shield-refill aspect, and Tech Armor already does that.

Shield bonus doesn't include upgrades and gear. Shep has 250 base shield points - this is the number that's used by powers like TA, Barrier, GSB and Fortification. So when Shep has 350 shield in the squadscreen (this includes upgrades and gear bonuses) and activates Power Armor (+100%), shield will become: 350 + (100% of base shield = 250) > 350 + 250 = 600 points. Activating another armor power like Heavy Barrier will add another 100% (250 points) > 600 + 250 = 850 total shield.

Extra shield points don't have any noticeable impact on gameplay and armor powers are therefore pretty useless for a Sentinel. Besides, they're only worthwhile outside of combat b/c during combat you'll have to chose which power you'll use and since TA >> other armor powers ... well, I think you'll get the point :)

IMHO for a Sentinel Tech Armor is soooo good that you wouldn't want your bonus power possibly getting in the way of casting the tech armor. The cooldowns for Fortification, Geth Shield Boost, Barrier, etc. are just too much IMHO.

Anyway Tech Armor [at least Assault Armor] is at its most powerful when it blows and then gives you some shields back and sends out its pulse wave. I could be wrong but as soon as TA blows that may cancel GSB, Barrier, Fortification, etc. Recasting those during a battle is IMHO a no-no.

If you like to sit back Energy Drain or Reave as recommended above wouldn't be bad. Stasis is also a handy power to keep that one "protected" Krogan from getting closer to you.

If you pick a shotgun for your weapon training and go Close Quarters Combat you may be so busy recasting TA that you won't have time for much else.

This is why I don't take a defense power like GSB on my Sentinels.  On all my other classes, I get 1pt GSB or Barrier to refill my shields.  Sentinels come with this ability standard, however.

A Sentinel doesn't need anything but Assault Armor to be the best tank ever.

My Sentinel FemShep just picked up the GPS and barreled through the Disabled Collector Ship with Assault Armor and her fists. Squadmates were Jacob and Jack. You don't need any shield stacks, trust me. I ate pretty much every single firebomb Harbinger threw at me and couldn't die. Then I played punch out with the Scions, using Warp to interrupt their melee attack. Insanity, Level 15.

Really, taking any shield power on the Sentinel is gimping yourself, b/c your bonus power slot is so important. Energy Drain, Reave, Stasis, Slam, AP Ammo, Warp Ammo, etc., etc.
