Just wondering, is it just me or Varric started as a Level 4 Rogue with an ability point but with no attributes point?

do you mean there were no allocatable attribute points? all companions start like that.
but if you mean that he had less attribute points than a level 4 Rogue should have...then it's probably just you

edit: if you want to fully customise your companions you'll probably have to use a maker's sigh as they also start with some pre-selected abilities. It's a bit of a pain really..
