Three more days.

I read it has a script of 2,200 pages.  Seven years in the making.  I think this game will contend for GOTY.

So are we supposed to be posting LA Noire reviews here, or discussing something else?

I'm certainly excited for LA Noire, had it pre-ordered for a long time. To be honest, it's the only game rockstar's had involvement in that I've been hungry for. Between the more detective-esque interrogation gameplay, a fully realized old-time LA setting, and the ridiculous detail in facial capture, it pretty much has to knock it out of the park. I'd be deathly surprised if it dipped below 90 in metacritic.

Cant wait for this game, and the ebooks have peaked my interest too.

Rockstar games havent appealed for a long long time, probably since Vice City. I have high hopes for this one.

Theres no CE is there? Ive looked but to no avail

Was dissapointed with GTA 4 as a game and the port to PC and wtf no Red Dead on PC! Though L.A Noire looks pretty great and Bioware could so use that technology.

Though this game is gonna wait till I play Witcher 2.

Red Dead Redemption would be the only Rockstar game I'd consider if it ever came to PC. I read they canned the openworld for this title. I dunno, I'm skeptical of it.

I'm not really following this game that much so I can't say I'm excited for it. The Witcher 2 is currently taking all of my hype.

But I will check it out once I get a single playthrough of TW2.

It's Noire. And Rockstar had nothing to do with the development of this game. They're just publishing it. But I guess just their name easily sells.

As for the game itself... it doesn't seem very ... noir. More like Mafia.

And I really dislike the douchebag actor they picked for the protagonist. They need to find the closest thing to Bogart, not this pansy

I agree, it really doesn't have that "noir" feel at all. All trailers look like scenes from an action flick.

What does seeming noire mean? According to my years of taking French class, Noire means the color black. Are you saying that the game isn't black enough or that there's too much vibrant colors?

From movies, the best example of Noir is Sin City IMO. Other worthy mentions: The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep...
From games, the best examples are Max Payne and Discworld Noir.

Quick example (though this is from a comedic game): http://www.youtube.c...Tt0at_g#t=0m48s

He's obviously a GTA fan who thinks that he can shoot anything that moves in this game. Which won't be the case...

Sin City was gratuitous... I prefer Chinatown, L.A. Confidential, the Manchurian Candidate (original with Sinatra), of course you can't go wrong with the Maltese Falcon or Big Sleep.

Sin City is Pulp Noir at best.  I liked it. but its not the best example.

Night and the City, Out of the Past, Double Indemnity, and The Maltese Falcon would be "essential" noir picks.

Games looks amazing BTW.

I was looking to pre-order Witcher 2 but they haven't announced when it will come out on console yet, so L.A. Noire is the next best thing right now.  I was looking forward to Noire to begin with, it's just that I lean more towards RPGs first if a good one is available.

And my feelings for Red Dead Redemption was that it was an awesome old-western game to PLAY.  The story never really felt important and most of the characters, while well done, were kind of on the creepy side.  I wanted to hit Seth over the head with a shovel and bury him with his love, rather than do any quests for him.

Witcher 2 has all but been confirmed for consoles so who knows. THe launch trailers had a message in like the last second of each video and part of it said this

"PS.3...it will happen someday ;)" no idea about 360.

I played a bit of Red Dead but it was on a friends a 360 from what I played I really liked. GTA 4 though I was gifted through Steam I can't stand it. FOUR types of DRM are used in the damn game. Steam (well duh) Rockstar Club, Securom and Games for Windows Live....wtf Rockstar.

Not to mention GTA IV was badly ported to the PC. Get passed the DRM and even a high end machine will have trouble running it on low settings. Didn't stop me from loving it though lol. +I have it on PS3 now so if I ever want to play it again I don't have to deal with that.

As for RDR there is little I can say without sounding like the biggest fanboy ever. I bought my PS3 specifically for that game and it didn't disappoint in any way. I'm actually playing through my second time and I find myself enjoying it even more. Little details catch my eye like the grash up against a fence or tumbleweeds outside Armadillo. As for the story I will just say that if I live to be a million years old I will look back at my days as a non android and remember the ending.

Yeah, Red Dead Redemption is the only Rockstar game I actually liked. One of the best games ever made, in my opinion.

The best dlc I ever downloaded was The Undead Nightmare for $10. It was actually an expansion for a dlc price. Zombies and Old-Westerns, a perfect combination.

The first review was posted by the GuardianUK. heres the link http://www.guardian....-review-removed

But don't bother yourself with it yet because this was posted in the review's place:

"A story and comments relating to a game review have been taken down as we inadvertently breached an embargo by publishing the article. All will be restored when the story is out of embargo."

Anyway, on Metacritic the Guardian gave it a perfect 100.

@ Archdemon Cthulhu - one million cool points for mentioning Double Indemnity. A really fantastic film, and Barbara Stanwyck was one of the best femmes fatale :)

But yes, very excited about LA Noire. Have pre-ordered from Game, so I'm really hoping it arrives a bit early.

The reviews say it bridges cinema and games, and plays out like tv series. This may be really cool, or it may be cutscene hell. They also mention the gameplay is clunky.
