Again, I don't mean which side your on. I'm referring to the fact that when you aren't solving cases, you're mostly shooting people. You're on the cops' side this time, but you're still taking cover and shooting people.

You kill one person in the entire Homicide mission line. One person.

Maybe he's speaking about the calls you can respond to as you drive around?  By looking at the stats, there seems to be 40 uniqe calls to respond to.

He does realise that almost every game out there has you killing people, not just GTA, right? I mean based on that theory, LA Noire is incredibly similar to UT3.

And yes there are 40 uniqe calls. I've only done about 14 or 15. I got no time to stop bank robberies on the other side of town when I'm trying to figure out the next code that will lead me to the Black Dahlia killer.

This game play has elements very similiar to the Shadow of the Templars. Does anybody remember that computer game from the 90s? I checked it out online and it was Ubisoft that made it.

I'm loving this game so far. The interactive world of post -WW2 L.A. is thoughtfully executed.
The characters overall are a bit bland though, which is a shame as their faces make great expressions (worth checking out for that alone). I'd rather have better characterization with fewer facial expressions.

I've purposefully skipped all the other Posts in this Thread to avoid any possible spoilers...
Does anyone know if this Game will be coming to PC? I don't have a Console & am really hoping it does...Game looks amazing!
Anyone playing it and finding they are interested in its' setting should read up on the History of Post WWII Los Angeles...it was a really interesting time and from what I've seen on the commercials it looks like the Game does a good job capturing the dark underbelly of that time.

I'll wait before buying it. When they fix the problems they got for it, I'll come back to it.

Besides, InFamous 2 is out next month.

Not great news for me, but I do appreciate the Link.
Seems sort of silly to me for them to not make it available for PC, but I really don't know much about how the conversion proccess works so maybe it's a purely financial decision.

I mean the side quests. The ones that appear when your driving.

I just tried to put an hour in and I feel like it's RDR all over again. A brilliant game hampered by technical issues and poor mechanics. I haven't done much of anything yet, but already I've experienced really wonky physics trying to chase a guy down and then when I reached him entering brawl mode didn't seem to do anything other than lift my hands up so I can use them to cry over getting beaten in a corner by an old man.

Now it looks like I'll have to start over because I've not willing to accept a lost case due to lack of ability to defend myself. Looks like it's going to be a bumpy ride, but at least it shouldn't take too long.

I played a bit of the game today. It's pretty good, I just can't get passed the fact that every character seems to be suffering from Robert-De-Niro-face syndrome:

My only complaint is that the game is too linear, and therefore too easy. Each case should have several false clues, leads, and suspects.

Some of the cases do.

If i've learned one thing from this game is that I do not qualify to be a detective.
So many screw ups when it comes to interrogating people.

Facial animations. I've never seen video game characters express themselves so realistically.

It's pretty amazing what they've achieved there, but unfortunately for me they're just a little too realistic and fall squarely into the Uncanny Valley.  I actually prefer a little less realism - things like The Witcher 2 where the slightly stylised character design helps avoid the creepy animated corpse effect.

I should say though that I've not played the game, only watched the trailers.

I hate this game for making more people use the "Uncanny Valley" buzz word. It's so often haphazardly thrown around for situations that do not qualify. That being said, it does apply better here, as with how close they have gotten to realistic animations that could start to be a problem. After playing the game I wouldn't say it is though, while everything looks nice, the visuals are just not high enough resolution to foll you to the point of anything looking uncanny, these are clearly artificial creations, just good looking ones.

Once we get to this point, then that will be a different matter. That video is certainly unsettling at times.

Oh, and I still haven't tried playing LA Noire again, hopefully I can get to it today, but the last time has killed my motivation.

I never understood the hype for the facial animations. I thought they looked good, but not good enough to spend millions of dollars in advertising this single mechanic.

---Spoilers---

LA Noire peaks too early, Traffic, Vice and Arson desks are all very boring imo, Homicide desk is the best part of the game. The protagonist swap at the end of the game, from Cole to Jack was also poorly executed. The ending was a cheesy attempt at Dickensian plot-weaving, and it just ended up looking rushed and incoherent.

Spoilers again.

I disagee. Well I didn't like Arson much but I like all the other desks and playing as Jack was cool.

PS3/360 comparison Imo PS3 looks better didn't Rockstar say the 360 version was better?

The PS3 version was lighter and it looked like some of the textures were higher quality, but the model detail looked higher on the 360. Looked more or less identical in many cases. I still can't make myself play this game, tried yesterday and got fed up after 15 minutes. I am determined to finish this, but it might take me several years.

That's why there's fantasy games. Rockstar(and I guess Team Bondi) have always had a realistic approach when it comes to characters and the setting in general. BioWare should learn from both them and CD Project.

Apparently, running over your partner is frowned upon.
