In my game there is a statue of the Kirkwall guardsmen or whoever it is standing with the arishoks head below his foot.. Only, The Arishok is very much alive in my game. Why did the stupid people of this city put this statue here? It will be awkward when they return.. I mean, he will go from thinking they should be enlightened to thinking they should be dead. Not really wise of them to put this statue here.

Is this a bug or is it meant to happen?

Happens no matter what, but you probably already knew that.

Its a statue of you defeating the Qunari. Whether or not you're mage or woman or killed the Arishok, this is how the people of Kirkwall want their Champion remembered. I dig it, personally.

Defeating the Qunari? They left, no defeating was involved

The qunari have left the city and are no longer... y'know... setting it on fire and killing nobles. Kirkwallers would probably consider that a win and give you a shiny statue as thanks.

I liken this to a roach infestation at GF's apartment: it doesn't matter if you get them to leave by asking or stomping, as long as they're gone you get victory lovin'.

I think it's more to do with symoblism of the Qunari being vanquished rather than an actual physical interpretation of events.

As in:

BioWare learned from the problems a player char's personalized statue can pose.
In other dev house's games you most likely get a ctd when you revisit the area
were a personalized staue of your char stands, given you've changed hairstyle,
armor or weapons and the old sets are no longer ingame after the statue was created

Heh, I never had a problem with the personalised statue that stood in Bruma in Oblivion.
But I'm guessing Bioware didn't have enough time for such shenanigans.
It does seem a little lame that the statue is there even if the Arishok wasn't killed though. I also think the foot on the head thing is rather tasteless. Hubris...

What actually happened was rather embarrassing, so you put up a statue and pretend it was a glorious triumph. Pretty normal human behaviour.

Wow, that's a statue of Hawke? I really had no idea, considering I've never played through as a warrior or a guy.  Though I suppose, since it's fully armored, it might could be a girl.  But still. :P

Yes, if you try really hard it can look like an armored woman-bas too. But hardly a mage, or even a rogue.

A minor thing. But the things that can disconnect you from what's supposedly your Hawke's story add up.

I don't think it's intended to be a statue of Hawke. Just a symbol of Kirkwall's defeat of the Qunari.

Um...how did the Arishok leave? I guess it only happens if Isabella comes back and you give her to him? Yow.

I thought it was a templar tbh.
If you look over the barrier erected in front of the qunari compound it has lots of templar insignia and chantry signs.
I think even another templar statue there as well.

Pretty much I took it to mean that the templars.. sic Meredith were saying..
"We saved the city, we're in charge, we have the power,"

It looks exactly like the top-tier armor for WarriorHawke, in that act.

It has nothing to do with Hawke.

It's a Templar standing on the Arishok's head. It's Chantry propaganda and history rewriting. I was PISSED when I saw that statue after dueling the Arishok. A Templar? A TEMPLAR! A Mage Hawke just saved the city, defeated the Arishok, saved Isabela from slavery....

And the Templars portray themselves as heroes?

Of course, the statue's never mentioned anywhere by anyone so....I just don't care now. That game's full of stupid disconnected bits.

I thought it was a city guard and as they are the official millitant body representing Kirkwall it shows Kirkwalls "Defeat" of the qunari... Although in my games save it was just me convincing them to leave

It's always a good sign when nobody can even agree on what the heck it's supposed to be.

It can't be a templar, it's not wearing a skirt!

I'm more annoyed by the fact that in Act 3 the city is exactly the same of Act 1 and 2 like the devastation brought by the Qunari assault never happened, than by a stupid statue.
(not to mention that they allow the presence in the city of a Qunari collecting swords, as if nothing happened)

Call it propoganda on the Templar's part. Sure, Hawke may be the Champion, as declared by the nobles, but Meredith doesn't take kindly to somebody muscling in on her self-professed "defenders of the city" position. Doubly so if you've got Mage!Hawke.

EDIT: I just called her "Knight-Commander Miranda" there for a sec. I need to stop mixing my beer and spirits DA and ME.

Yeah, you'd think it wouldn't have been excessively hard to come up with, at least two different statues (M/F), if not six for the different classes as well, considering the benefit. Things like that are what make the game feel more reactive to your character, which is what a lot of people felt sorely lacking.
