He was a breath of fresh air considering practically every other squad mate in Mass Effect 2 is really wacky and not normal/has some sort of problem...

Well okay I admit he is a little bit too boring actually.
I liked Kaiden and Ashley, they were pretty balanced out (although Kaiden should have had a side quest and should have had more moments where he could share his opinions and let us get to know him....)

I didnt think he was boring, Tali and Jacob were the only beleivable chars IMO, Jacob moreso.

Every other character just seemed to be a cartoonish cliche. They all really got on my nerves.

Kaiden DID have those moments. He just wasn't super interesting. Jacob was even less interesting.

Funny thing is, right before ME2, I realized Kaiden isn't as boring as I thought he was. Still not even close to as interesting as Ashley, but I learned to respect him.

Jacob is worse. God is he worse. Maybe in ME3 if there's someone even more boring than Jacob I'll think he doesn't suck.

Maybe there should be a squadmate who just never talks. Never even does anything.

You found Ashley interesting?!  The character that is literally just one cliche?

Jacob is more of a movie cliche, he's like that kind of militant/badass black guy lol.

Drying paint is little more than preoccupyied thoughts solidifying into form.

Just as is Jacob's character.

Jacob and drying paint is one and the same thing!

Badass black guy?  What game were you playing :D  Jacob is as bad ass as a newborn puppy.

Jacob is the voice of reason, not badass :D

He's rather boring and bland. I don't hate him for it just he's far down my list of favourite characters.

I suppose now that I think about it he's more chill than badass, Zaeed and Shepard are the real badasses.

What? But... I still find drying paint alot more interesting than Jacob.

It's a paradox!

I'm not usually one to complain that the devs ruined something, but I found Jacob more interesting in ME Galaxy.

I thought all the characters were interesting just that Jacob was not as interesting as the others but I still liked his character

I liked Jacob, he just had so much story with the corsairs and it was never expanded on. If it had, he would of been far more interesting, especially considering he has a military history and it involves how he joined cerberus(as per galaxy)

Maybe this is why I didn't take to the guy.  He never tells me much about himself or what he thinks about things or anything.  Not that I think that he should go on all mememememe about things, but I didn't get to know him very well.

I found Jacob only boring until with one of my FemShep's I did romance with him. I started to hate him then.

Douchebag dumped me 3 times!

Frankly, Jacob was one of the only new squadmates that I felt like I trusted on my first playthrough.

He's calm, cool, collected, and even though he works for Cerberus, you can tell that he isn't like Miranda at all. He's doesn't have the air of superiority hovering around him. He's just practical, honest, and most importantly, capable.

Sure he has daddy issues, but he even manages to resolve that in a healthy, responsible fashion.

No, he isn't "the most interesting" character in the game, but he strikes me as one of the best representations of a normal human in a world otherwise filled with extremes. That makes him easy for me to identify with.

Jacob is good folks...a lot of good folks are "boring" since to be "interesting" to some people means they have to have some sort of massive problem with their life.
