How much do you think the Origin stories will revolve around your origins?

So we know, due to several dev posts in the distant and recent past, that the Origin stories are approximately two hours long apeice. Sounds good, but my question is, how much of these Origin stories revolve around good honest roleplaying and how much of them revolve around combat? We know that combat sequences occur in all six origin stories, and I am curious over how much of a given Origin story will involve such combat. I mean, if a two hour long Origin sequence is thiry minutes dialogue and roleplaying and one hour thiry minutes combat, I'll be sorely dissapointed. I want combat to take a secondary role to actual decision making, at least as far as the Origin stories are involved.

Take the City Elf Origin as an example. So far as we know, there's a little roleplaying sequence at the beginning before your character is carted off to the lord's castle and thus begins a rollicking bloodfest followed by a little more RP-ing at the end of it. Seems to me that the majority of that Origin is the combat rather than the dialogue, and if that's true, my opinion of this game will drop by a few notches.

Thoughts/ reassurances, anyone?

We'll find out in a week.

I'm sure it has enough dialoge as well as fighting.

I think each Origin will have a different feeling. City Elf does seem more combat, but it seems that you incite the whole city to revolt or something - because the lord said by morning the whole city will be in blood. So the path leading to that may very well have a lot of dialogue

We played the Dwarf Noble origin. It's apparently one of the longest ones, and it was not heavy on combat, although there was some. A very cool origin story, IMO.

Whether that's typical of the origins or not, I can't say, but it seems to me there's a reason they're called origin stories. ;)

lol I like your topic title. I think the Origin stories will have ALOT to do with the origins.

But yeah I agree I hope the origins are mostly story and just some battle to get us used to it.

The dwarven origin revolved around mean, dishonest role-playing. Does that count?

Based on other Bioware games I've played, I don't expect to have a problem with the amount of story vs fighting. They're usually very good with that.

I'd say the origin will make up 10% of the gameplay. Thats including origin story, NPC reactions/quests, and the ending.

I think the origin will make up less than 4% of the game.

Yes, that too.Posted Image
Although I fully intend to play an utterly naive, dwarf-Nalia character who's abjectly terrified of the sun falling out of the sky and setting him on fire as soon as he leaves the Deep Roads...Posted Image
