In my humble opinion, the whole thing smells like a red herring. Concerning ME3's story elements, we are still very much in the dark. It could be that Bioware is distracting us with this Cerberus subplot, when it could be overshadowed by a more pressing conflict we are not yet aware of.

Concerning this topic as a whole, I think laecraft hit the nail on the head in his posts. It doesn't make any sense that TIM would willingly attempt to kill off Shepard (no matter how much he/she pissed him off in ME2). TIM's ultimate goal is the preservation and advancement of humanity and, no matter how much Shepard disagrees with him, he/she plays an important role in both those aspects. It goes against TIM's character to want to kill Shepard all because he is butthurt.

My theory: The Reapers turned their focus on humanity in ME2 because of Shepard and the fact that it was a human fleet that defeated Sovereign in ME1. It makes sense that the Reapers would shift their focus on Cerberus in ME3, corrupting (and effectively crippling) humanity's most active and, in terms of battling the Reapers, threatening faction in the War Against the Reapers. Therefore, the most likely scenario is that TIM or a very powerful Cerberus cell has fallen prey to Reaper indoctrination (most likely their Plan E if and when Shepard escapes Earth).

When it is phrased like this...Yes. I don't want to face the unpleasant truth, but here it is. If I were the Reapers, the very first thing I'd do would be to corrupt Cerberus. And then set Cerberus against Shepard, let them hunt Commander - humans are better suited for that on the ground than great warships. If Cerberus and Shepard are allowed to continue working together, they would be pretty much unstoppable, and the result would be same as at the end of ME2 - foiling of the Reapers' plans. Divide and conquer and destroy your most powerful opposition by setting them against each other.

Ugh. Indoctrination, then? I really, really don't like this, but it looks like the most probable path. Didn't make much sense from TIM's POV, but makes a lot of sense from the Reapers' POV.

Still hoping this is not the case. Not much speculation can be done at this point. Pretty much hit the brick wall every time I try. "Not enough data." The only thing to do is to wait for Bioware to break through that wall by introducing a new plot element or a revelation.

Guess we'll just have to wait til we play ME3 to find out, although I'm still keeping my hopes up that TIM and Shep can be bros in ME3.

I mean, I blew up the base and all, but I can respect the man for his convictions and his insane level of charisma, even if I diagree with him.

What about Allies? Maybe the Geth finally come to terms with the Qurians? What if there is a super Reaper ship out there and someone finds its one weakness? Maybe TIM leaves Cerberus to help Shepard and ends up getting every Cerberus Operatives to chase down Shepard cause they think he took TIM away? Posted Image

hey, what about using the Mako in ME3? what if there isn't just ground and space battles? Were on Earth, the Largest military supply depo for the Aliance Military. What if we get to use the Mako again?

I still don't think Cerberus is going to be the enemy if you played a pro-cerberus ME2 game...

..but like I said...maybe just my rampant fanboyism seeing the ultimate game being prepped.

As if they would that, this would require BioWare to make two whole games in one, will not happen. Sorry . :(
No they will gives a reason for Cerberus to hunt you down whether it's TIM doing it or not.

I figure the story events will be set, but they promised to give us a chance to roleplay how we feel about it. I suppose it depends on their idea of roleplaying. If it simply means choosing different conversation options to show your reaction to things, and there's no consequences to your reaction, well - that's not much, but it's better than nothing.

At the very least, I would like at the following options:

1. An option for my Shepard to ask TIM what the hell. And get some kind of truthful explanation out of him. If I'm simply being attacked by Cerberus throughout the game without any explanation whatsover, I'm not going to be pleased.

2. If Cerberus' reason for hunting Shepard isn't valid, I want an option to try and convince/force them to switch sides back again. Which isn't going to work, of course, but it would be nice to try.

3. If I can, I'd like an option to spare some of the humans attacking me, and arrest them / reverse their indoctrination (don't tell me the salarians didn't invent something already) even if the very same soldiers attack me afterwards. My goal is not to kill them, after all - it's to hold them back until I destroy the Reapers.

4. An option to resolve some encounters with Cerberus without violence (say, I stumble on a Cerberus ship, they're clearly outmatched by me, and we both pretend that we don't recognize each other, despite the Alliance logo on my ship - I mean, come on, this logo is only here to allow me a free pass in the Council space, some people get twitchy when they see ships without logos, it's the war after all)

5. Also, when the Alliance demands of my Shepard to disclose all intel about the period when Shepard was working with Cerberus, like they were going to, I want an option to refuse.

6. If I get nothing of the above, at least give my Shepard an option to be upset about the whole Cerberus matter. The only ally Shepard ever had, turned against him right when he needed allies most. That's pretty dark. I can't see my Shepard being cheered by that.
