Where does DA2 rank among bioware games you played?

2. KOTOR
3. ME1
4. DAO
5. ME2
6. DA2
I like DA2 and think all Bioware games are exceptional. But yeah, it's at the bottom of my list currently. Hmm it seems Bioware games have gotten progressively worse for me. I have high hopes for TOR though, that could well take the number 1 spot.
Also, even though I haven't played them, I'm sure the worst Bioware games are the handheld ME: Galaxy and Sonic: Dark Brotherhood titles.

4. Dragon Age 2, but ME2 is far better.
Why not pick up the BG Saga from here: http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/
You won't regret it!
I am considering it. Thanks for the link!

As a fan and one that is invested in Bioware, I know they can do better; the record indicates it. But rather than berate them for slipping on their report card, I choose to encourage them to return to prior form, release the game only when it is ready, and always strive for excellence rather than simply pass finals.

I really don't agree with that at all. It is average at best. The Witcher, Fallout: New Vegas, Divinity II - Dragon Knight Saga, Risen, Alpha Protocol and the Drakensang games were all more enjoyable to me than DA2.Elhanan wrote...
While DA2 is not my fave game, it is still a good game, and far, far above the mass of mediocrity available on the market.

Agreed. And even besides all that, I'll hold Bioware to a higher standard simply because I can. And because they like to sell their PC games these days for 60 bucks instead of 50. And because they've proven over and over again that they can exceed expectations when they really want to.relhart wrote...
I don't think it's wrong to hold them to a higher standard, the whole excuse behind selling out to EA was so that they would have more money to produce quality titles. I've played plenty of Indy games that had far more content and polish than DA2 has.
Anyway, back on topic. here's how I'd rank all the bioware titles I've played:
1) Baldurs Gate 2
2) Dragon Age: Origins
3) Baldur's Gate 1
4)Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark
5)Baldur's Gate 1: Tales of the Sword Coast
6) Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal
7) Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide
8) Neverwinter Nights OC
9) Dragon Age: Awakening
---
---
10 or lower: Dragon Age 2.
Yes, 10 or lower. I actually had way more enjoyment and minute by minute satisfaction with the various unmentioned premium modules and DLCs for all the above-mentioned games

Personally, I rate DA2 as between 7-8 on a scale of 10. This is still much better than the majority of games seen elsewhere. As a consumer, I am content. The A student got a B or C; not a cause to panic and switch schools, grounding, and other such calls of over-reaction.

"Return to form".
That's where the problem lies, as most of what we've seen from Bioware indicates that they like the direction they moved in with Dragon Age 2.
Which is probably why people are so anxious about it. It's not necessarily the game itself. At least, it isn't for me. It's just easy to take pot shots at the game, because that's the pudding where the proof is, so to speak.
I'd say a lot of problems that certain people have with Bioware are threefold:
- The direction they've taken in Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 to dilute RPG elements or remove them completely in favour of Action and cinematic elements. Moving towards an interactive narrative, instead of an RPG. Though, if you're really "old school", you've noted this has been the case since KotOR. In either case, it's much more obvious now. In Mass Effect 2's case, it's hard to even call it a hybrid RPG at all, despite the fact that it's still an excellent game.
- The obvious rushjob in Dragon Age 2 combined with the removal or simplification of RPG elements not only makes for a inferior RPG, but an inferior game overall. People don't like games that are obviously rushed. I'd like to place the blame on EA, but a lot of the blame also has to go to Bioware. Games have been developed in a similar amount of time in development and still were great games overall. Baldur's Gate 2 being the Bioware example. New Vegas (though buggy) and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, being contemporary examples.
- The apparent pride that Bioware employees have in going with this direction. Reading Laidlaw interviews, it's clear that rather than make RPGs for RPG fans he wants to make games that aren't for RPG fans. Which begs the question, why make RPGs if not for RPG fans? Would one change the rules of Baseball to appeal more to Basketball fans? There's nothing wrong with expanding the audience, but that can be done in other ways. I think that there is something wrong when you imply that the problem with RPGs is the RPG elements. I'm not saying that he said it explicitly or anything, but it's definitely the impression that I, and many other people get.
Now, whether Bioware returns to making games that include more RPG elements (like they'd stated for ME 3), the future can only tell.
But these are forums, and ME 3 ain't coming out till next year, so until then, we're just going to ****.

Those are the ones I've played, and I liked them in that order. The general critic opinion for those 4 though is:
ME2 96/100
DAO 91/100
ME1 91/100
DA2 82/100

1)Mass Effect 1
2)Baldur's Gate + Tales of the sword coast
3)NWN2 - (Obsidian, I know, but inspired by BioWare and a true BG spiritual successor. By the end of its official content run, with the Storm of Zehir overland map and automatic community content downloader, it was an engine that exceeded the original BG in every way. It did not however exceed the original BG series in adventure, characters, and story).
4)Icewind Dale 2 (Okay, another slip in inspired by BioWares infinity engine and taking it to where it should have continued going with skill implementation, art, and feel).
5)Mass Effect 2
7)Dragon Age 2
8)Dragon Age Origins
9)Baldur's Gate 2
10)Neverwinter Nights 1
11)Baldur's Gate 2 - throne of Bhaal
Wish I had time to try Jade Empire, but I think I missed that boat. Not all that interested in Star Wars games even though I loved the movies. Mass Effect was pure genius in my opinion and more than scratches my sci-fi itch.

interactive narrative , i always don't want to ply those type of games. I have only played thrrough me2 once, because of the less rpg elements in the game.

And while one may hold Bioware to a higher standard including myself, does not equate to the hostility seen in berating them for not living up to said standard. This type of approach only seems to show the self-focussed desires of the critic, and does little to help or motivate the one being critiqued.
For any not getting the desired enjoyment from NWN1, I recommend the Neverwinter Vault for over 4000 additional mods, the PW's available, and even Neverwinter Connections; the latter not yet used by myself.I am still playing this game, while many other titles and games outside the Bioware stores are still not on my systems.
