2) Baldur's Gate 2
3) Mass Effect 2
4) Dragon Age: Origins
5) Mass Effect
6) Baldur's Gate
7) Dragon Age 2
I also own KOTOR and Jade Empire SE, but haven't played through them enough to stick a rank to them.

2. Baldur's Gate 2/Tob
3. Jade Empire
4. Kotor
5. Mass Effect
6. Dragon Age: Origins/Awekening
7. Dragon Age 2
8. Mass Effect 2
I haven't played enough NWN to judge it but it would probably get a fifth place.
This doesn't mean DA2 is bad (the only bad game on the list is ME2).

2. Baldur's Gate 2 - Maybe better than BG1 in some aspects, but I still loved the epic plot in BG1 more.
3. Knights of the Old Republic - Proved that there could be good Star Wars games (Jedi Knight series also rocks).
4. Mass Effect 1 - Epic space RPG? Count me in!
5. Neverwinter Nights - Sort of a disappointment, but due to toolset and online, my most played game ever.
6. Mass Effect 2 - Good game, but disappointing as a sequel. Didn't advance the storyline at all.
7. Dragon Age 2 - Despite its shortcomings, I liked the combat and graphics.
8. Dragon Age: Origins - Was expecting BG3, which it was not. Also, the combat was unresponsive, and the characters looked creepy. Thankfully mods made it possible to change most of them, but the NPCs were still there... and everyone looked the same. Still better than most non-Bioware RPGs, though.

The only one I haven't played is Jade Empire (I'd rank BG2 at the top).

Because, let's face it, it's not the technical side that makes the Baldur's Gate games so great, but the epic story, real choices (both for story and game mechanics), character interaction, and the open adventure. In this, both ME2 and DA2 is pretty similar - limited. So is it the reused areas, exploding bodies, and parachuting ninjas that differentiate DA2 so much from ME2?

I don't even consider it worthy of making the list. God, how I wish this game never happened. I'd be happier if the franchise had ended with Origins, because DA2 is a really bad omen of what's to come for Bioware.
Well, we'll know in a year or two how things will go for Bioware. We'll have some more info on DA3 and ME3 will have come out. If the latter is rushed or is still light on the RP elements (I think ME2 was fairly light...it isn't as good as most other Bioware games), then things look pretty downhill. I know TOR is coming out too, but I'd ignore that.

But NWN had the toolset and dungeon keeper set. And it also had good follow on campaigns, as expansions.
A big problem of DA2 is also what it did to DA:O. Because it's obvious that the team intended to kill off any games like Origin, and turn Dragon Age into an entirely different, devolved, direction. THAT is what truly makes DA2 a horrible game.
Otherwise, I finished DA2 and sort of enjoyed it.
Of course I rate the BG games highest.
Then DAO. (and I liked Awakening too)
Then KoTOR.
Have both ME games, but haven't managed to force myself to finish any of them. They don't seem bad (at least not the first) but I'm simply not so hooked.
Never played Jade Empire.

2. ME2
3. KotoR (it has a soft spot I played it when I was, I believe 12/ fond memories and stuff)
4. NwN1
5. Jade Empire
6. DA2
That's for Bioware games but I've to say that it also ranks pretty low for games in general that I've played. That said, I also don't really bother with bad games and usually play only good ones only.

Can only speak for myself, but ME2 is simply a much more polished game, and the actiony style lends itself better to a shooter IMO. I think they'd have been better off letting the two franchises stay more differentiated, DA being more the classic RPG and ME the action hybrid.Aurvan wrote...
I have a question. Why do so many have ME2 so high but DA2 so low? Apart from the technical aspect (in which ME2 is better than DA2), they are criticised for much of the same "consolification" of classic RPG-style games, as well as a story that doesn't "move the plot forward" in the setting.
As it is, of my limited experience with Bioware games, Origins is way out in front, DA2 and ME2 are tied at second, and ME1 last, mainly because I had bad audio and found the cursed Mako and other gameplay elements so frustrating on PC. (and because Ashley and Kaidan are both a pile of fail)

Mind giving your entire list of BioWare games you've played, and where they rank?
