I should say that I care about combat, story and number of bugs equally.
1) ME 2.
2) ME 1.
3) DA II.
4) Dragon Age: Awakening.
4) KOTOR.
5) Jade Empire.
6) Dragon Age: Origins.

As bad the story of DA2 can be at quite a few points the combat does make up for it a LOT compared to the games lower, and yes I do view both the story AND combat from KOTOR and Jade Empire to be better then the BS that was Origins - though Awakening was pretty damned good -, despite the nice universe that Origins showed us.

As for bugs. Origins was the most bug filled game I ever played that was made by Bioware ( loading screens, animation issues, memory leaks, DLC not working etc. etc. ).

In terms of how good a game it is, second. In terms of how fun it is to play, first.

Mind giving your entire list of BioWare games you've played, and where they rank?

Games by "how good" they are:

1. Baldur's Gate II
2. Dragon Age II
3. Baldur's Gate
4. Mass Effect 2
5. Dragon Age: Origins
(I put a break here, because I think everything after this point is pretty meh)
6. Knights of the Old Republic
7. Mass Effect
8. Neverwinter Nights

Games by "how much fun to play" they are:

1. Dragon Age II
2. Mass Effect 2
3. Mass Effect
4. Dragon Age: Origins
(I put a break here, because I think everything after this point is pretty meh)
5. Knights of the Old Republic
6. Baldur's Gate II
7. Neverwinter Nights
8. Baldur's Gate

Joint 1) ME and ME2,
3) KOTOR,
4) Baldurs Gate,
5) Jade Empire,
6) NWN,
7) DAO,
8) DA2. Easily the bottom of the ladder i'm afraid.

1 ) BG2
2) DA:O
3) KOTOR
4) BG1 (probably 3 with BGTutu and the BG NPC Project mod)
5) NWN:HtU (only an expansion I know, but it was significantly better then the NWN OC, so I'll count it seperately)
6) Mass Effect
7) Mass Effect 2
8) NWN (higher when mod campaigns are taken into account)
9) DA2

Since I am newer to playing RPGs...I asked hubby. His list:

1) BG2
2) Morrowind
3) Icewind Dale 1
4) ME1 (even though he considers ME more of a shooter than RPG)
5) BG1
6) DAO/DAO:A
7) ME2
8) Witcher
9) Icewind Dale 2
10) Neverwinter Nights 1
11) Betrayal at Krondor

Bioware games, dear ;)  But nice list regardless

Well I think Icewind Dale 1 at least uses the Bioware engine hehe

*giggle* sorry! Hubby gave me the list and I said BioWare only and he said pfft. So I put them all on.

for me, the ones I've played so far:

1)DAO/Awakenings
2) BG2
3) BG1
4) ME2

And I haven't finished play throughs of BG2 or ME2 because I stopped to play their predessor's first. And I am working on my BG 1 right now (and yet another DAO play through).

You should get the, I think, Tutu mod for BG1/2.

It basically makes BG1 play on BG2's engine, so you get the bonuses of higher resolution, more complete class implementations, a less lardy camera, and so on.

You can go from BG1 all the way to ToB with no stops with the mod.

Hmm... it'd probably be:

1/ Dragon Age: Origins / Mass Effect 2 - A tie, something that I would've thought impossible at one point due to my obsession with Origins, but I loved ME2 that much.

2/ Dragon Age 2 - I rank it slightly below those two mostly due to the ending which left me a bit cold (unlike the endings of those two, which I loved), as well as the recycled environments, but I consider the overall game on par with those two (and better on many areas)

3/ Neverwinter Nights - My first Bioware game. I love the OC, yes, I actually love it.

4/ Mass Effect - While I liked plenty about this game, I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as ME2.

5/ Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide - Deekin alone made this expansion a joy to play. xD

6/ Dragon Age: Awakening - While it was nowhere near as good as Origins, I did enjoy it, but only with Orlesian Wardens.

7/ Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark - My least favorite Bioware game so far, although I did like it, well, mostly chapter 1 and half of chapter 2. The end of chapter 2 was very meh and turned me off a lot.

I do NOT count mods at all by the way.

1. Baldur's Gate 2 / Throne of Bhaal
2. DA:Origins
3. Knights of the Old Republic
4. Baldur's Gate
5. Mass Effect /Mass Effect 2 - bit of a toss up, as ME2 was fun but for me, had little in the way of replay value as opposed to ME1
6. Jade Empire
7. Awakening
8. DA2
9. NWN OC

I don't recommend that.  The BG2 engine doesn't handle dual-classing as well as the BG engine does, and the more restrictive weapon proficiencies in BG2 can lead to character development traps in BG with the way BG's loot is distributed.  Also, BG2's faster walking speed changes the balance of several BG encounters.

All of the benefits of the BG2 engine that I think BG really needs were already added by BG's expansion, TotSC.

My List:

BG
KotOR
NWN
DAO
BG2
JE
ME
DA2
ME2

I think those top 5 are some of the very best games ever made - the gaps in the rankings there are really small - while the rest of the list is considerably farther back.

Modded DA2 scores higher.  The Equip Your Party mod alone is enough to move DA2 ahead of ME.

DA2 ranks last of the ones I've played. I suppose I'd probably like NWN even less, since I'm not at all interested in multiplayer, alas I never played that game. My favourite is Origins by far. Followed by BG2 and KOTOR.

But the BG engine doesn't support dual wielding does it? (Unless you've installed the TuTu mod.) But you seem to the BG player who wouldn't install that mod so I'll take your word for it.
