Baldur's Gate II
Neverwinter Nights multiplayer
Baldur's Gate
Dragon Age: Origins
Mass Effect
Knights of the Old Republic
Mass Effect 2
Dragon Age: Awakening
Neverwinter Nights singleplayer
Dragon Age 2

I dislike anime and JRPGs, so I never bothered with Jade Empire.

It's going downhill, Bioware.

This is the funniest thing I've seen today.

Jade Empire is about as much 'anime and JRPGs' as Star Wars is.  Significantly less so, seeing as how Jade Empire is an action RPG based off of Chinese mythology folklore.  Whereas the original movies that all Star Wars media originates from was a rip-off of certain Japanese films.

You are stoned Sylvius.. the best games ever made?

They're terrific games.  Only one of them finds its way into my top 5, but they all warrant recognition as brilliant works of game design.

But the BG engine doesn't support dual wielding does it?

No, but then the 2nd edition AD&D rules didn't really, either.

But it's a BIG drop off from ME1 to ME2/DA2 IMO, a HUGE drop in quality of gameplay, depsite the improvement of graphics

Maybe I'll give it a try then, but most things I have heard about it from those I usually listen to when it comes to video-games, are not very flattering. Oriental settings are usually either Japanese anime  or Chinise over the top action, in the tradition of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. Neither is really to my taste. Now if someone were to create an RPG set in feudal Japan without anime, in the tradition of Kurosawa's movies, then I would be interested. ;)

1. DA:O (My first RPG, led to the others below).
2. ME1 (An RPG made for shooter goons like me; loved it plain and simple, even with archaic gunplay).
3. KOTOR (Only played recently; would have been rated higher had I played it longer ago; a good game).
4. ME2 (Even though rated 4th on my list, ME2 was able to get away with streamlining and linear gameplay but remain epic; gunplay slightly improved-going in the right direction).
5. DA: Awakening (the decline of what was potentially a great franchise imo began).
6. DA2 (the decline gained terminal velocity; such a disappointment for me personally, a member of the supposed hypothetical, targeted demographic.  I was expecting Origins and got some weird action-hybrid that got lost somewhere betweeen GOW [a great shooter with exploding bodies] and Fable 3 [awful any way you slice it] that was pretending to be Dragon Age).

NWN:SoU gets a lot of flak, but I think it had the best level-design of any of the NWN campaigns.

3) KotOR
4) BG I
5) NWN (This is the OC and expansions only. With persistent worlds and certain premium modules it would raise to #2 )

Its better than sonic, and probably the worst of all the rest, but that doesn't make it *bad,* just not as good.

1. Dragon Age:Origins
2 Mass Effect 2
3 Knights of The Old Republic
4 Baulders Gate
5 Dragon age 2

I really enjoyed all of those games except 2, that game was really disappointing for me. i realy really hope they go a more Dragon Age:Origins  approach for the 3rd one. If i hear that its even more "accessible" i wont be buying it. their are plenty of post in constructive critisism so i dont need to add.:bandit:

Inventory? Though it looks different, it appears to be the same as DAO. Or do you mean the junk that appears in it? While tedious, one does not have to look at it, and may dump/sell as often as desired. Perhaps it is even possible not to gather it at all; uncertain. But while one does not want to collect junk, many do in tough times in RPG's and RL.

Nondescript items. Also the UI is frankly uglier than DAO.

Customized companions had both strengths and flaws; easier to manage, but lack of options could lead to less than desirable AC, defense, etc as well as appearance issues.

Agree to disagree. I loved customising companions. Loved it.

Weapons and Skills? If you are ref the increased restrictions for use, I am with you; major reason I give it a lower rating than other Bioware games.. But I saw nothing broken with them.

There is one skill in this game linked to your cunning score, provided you're a rogue.
When are you going to have a low cunning rogue around?
Not too often.
Restrictions on weapons were annoying.
The fact that all weapons in the same useable class were the same was also annoying. Mace=Longsword, etc.

Waves come often, but I prefer this to Kiting the bosses which appear in both. And combat still works well, and I have the Pause Key to prove it.

Agree to disagree.

My point is, all this is personal opinion; be it yours or mine, and while valid for each player, it does not constitute a factual regression away from the RPG genre. We may or may not like the changes including the reused areas, but all are still valid RPG mechanics; fact not opinion.

This is a game. There are no objective measures of success or quality. There are only expressions of opinion.

And my list:
1. BG2.
2. DAO.
3. ME2.
4. ME1.
5.BG2: ToB.
6. DA:A. In retrospect its "innovations" remind me greatly of DA2.
7. DA2.

It's just you.

DA 2 is quite possibly the finest roleplaying experience Bioware have ever made. One of the finest roleplaying games ever to come out. It has a very engaging narrative, better than all those confusing ones with lots of talking and text like Planescape: Torment or Mask of the Betrayer.

I'm totally serial.
