No. I can do Insanity with all classes. It just requires different strategies for each class. I find Sentinels and Infiltrators easier to do Insanity runs with, rather than Soliders.

The 'Cloak' was a boon for my 'Insanity' run...I don't think it's about the weapons load out you have...how big, how small...it's about how you use what your Shep's class has.

i just finished an insanity playthrough on a renegade sentinel. heavy reave with all the power damage bonuses makes the sentinel the hardest nuker in the game. seriously. destroying a ymir mech's armor with reave is very satisfying. couple that with the natural abilities like overload, and you have a very potent player-character.

however, i think you're all mistaken in "most powerful" characters. i saw some playthroughs of infiltrators. they are without a doubt the class that requires the most precision and tactical prowess to play.

shotgun infiltrator when played right is just insane. im not ready to playthrough ME2 again, but when i do, i'll be making a shotgun infiltrator.

Infiltrators are hard to play well if you're very aggressive I think. Unlike Vanguards and Sentinels they can't refill their shields easily. In fact if you use Cloak you're blocking your shield regen. The more aggressive you get, the worse this problem is.

But if your goal is to sit behind cover far away from the action all the time, infiltrators are incredibly easy to play.

^^^ forcing CQC is a poor strategy. Locust SMG should be your primary weapon until the situation calls for cleaning house with the shotty, IMO.

I don't know what you mean by "poor strategy."  What metrics are you using?  Killing speed?  Level clear time?  Number of reloads?  I mean, I can understand if you enjoy using the Locust, but forcing CQC wins all three when you have Assault Armor and Energy Drain.

Poor Strategy is also a vague term.

Strategy is judged by the results it produces.

Put another way, if a stupid idea works, it ain't stupid.
