I'm getting very bored of waiting to play the game through all the way for the first time so I want to know exactly what the import problems entail. Is there a way to avoid them? How bad are they? Try not to be too spoilery.

If you import from Origins>Awakenings>DA2 the romance flags for Leliana and Zevran aren't set correctly. This is because of a flaw in the Awakenings import system.

I don't know if these have been fixed by a patch, but in the vanilla game a) Zevran is alive even if you killed him, and Nathaniel says the Architect is alive even if you killed him. If you killed Leliana at the Ashes she will also still be alive; this is not a bug, but is intentional on the part of the writers.

None of those things affect me, e.g. they don't pose a problem.
What about those for Alistair?

If you imported from a Origins Coronation save your boon should be registered in the game data, leading to some dialogue options in DA2. However if the Mage boon (freeing the Circle) is granted by Alistair this will not happen because of a glitch in Origins. The only way for the Mage boon to register correctly with Alistair as king is if he married Anora and Loghain is alive, as it will be Anora who grants the boon.

I don't know if this is the case for all boons, or only the Mage one.

Anyone you did not take to the battle with the Mother in Awakening will be flagged as dead. This is bug that won't be fixed because it's a problem with Awakening, not DAII.  The only thing this really affects is whether you get Finding Nathaniel or Fool's Gold.

I'm pretty sure the Zevran thing was fixed in the last patch. My last two playthroughs were done where my warden killed Zevran, both of which came from Awakenings, and his quest did not trigger in Act 3. That bit seems to be working properly now.

I'm pretty sure the Lelianna romance flags are there and just not registering in DA2 so its fine to import.
