All in all, the item pack felt more like a grab bag than it did a well-described package worth purchasing. I was an idiot. I gave BioWare the benefit of the doubt and bought the item pack; unless BW addresses the texture issue, that'll never happen again.
Regarding a toolset, I'd never even dream of paying for it. Not only do mods dramatically increase the longevity of a game, they also improve future DLC sales. It's also important to consider the fact that modders often remedy a game's existing problems, whether they happen to be problems confirmed (but lacking a fix by BioWare), or subjects simply perceived as problems by the general player base.
Irregardless, it's safe to say that DA's modding community as a whole is drastically underappreciated and lacks sufficient communication from BioWare.
I've admittedly lost interest in playing DA2, but if it weren't for my own interest in modding, and several other authors' mods, I would've dropped this game in the dirt just shortly after it launched - and I know I'm not alone.
