I concede that a good Christian who considers the Bible literal truth should not be lesbian.
Edit: So, let's hope that people realise that their Holy Book was written centuries ago by humans for their contemporaries.

Except it's Old Testament and doesn't (or shouldn't) actually apply to Christians. A good Christian believes in and follows the teachings of Joshua of Nazareth (a.k.a. Jesus Christ).

The Old Testament, or the Hebrew Bible, should really only be relevant to Jews. And they, hopefully, don't have to deal with poorly translated and reinterpreted versions.

I honestly think that almost all of several pages of posts should be deleted at this point.

It is unfortunate that some of the people here could not be civil, stay on topic, and respect the views of others. The thread's creator was only asking what we felt about the integration of new love interests, some of which would be same-sex. What I saw was a fruitless argument about the nature and merits of homosexuality, in which it was equated to bestiality. This has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I don't know, in DA2 it felt pretty fan service to me, like it was there to just be there. I'm fine with it if it's in character, and convincing but to suddenly have everyone one in you party to be Bi "just cause" doesn't' seem right in the least.

Here's my take on it: Kudos to the team at BioWare for having the testicular fortitude to feature same-sex relationships in Mass Effect. That being said, I hope they don't retroactively make characters bi. To me, that seems like pandering and it flat out doesn't do justice to the character. True, they never said that Ashley or Kaidan (for instance) weren't gay, but if a character only went for the opposite sex in a previous game, I think that's a pretty strong indication.

Exceptions could be made for Jack (who previously was in a relationship with a couple), and Tali (who researches human sexuality after joining the Normandy regardless of what gender Shepard is). There's enough wiggle room there in my opinion for BioWare to justify a retcon. But to make everyone bi just seems like BioWare is re-writing the characters to please everyone.

Besides, bringing in new characters for the same-sex relationships offers a whole new horizon for the writers. Instead of trying to shoehorn in a romance, they could expand to characters we already know but never had the chance to really interact with. Gianna Parasini seems to me like someone who could swing both ways. James Vega is a blank slate who could easily be shaped into a Zevran-like character (which frankly would kick ass - I liked Zevran even if I didn't do a same-sex romance in DA:O).

It's great that they're expanding romances in ME:3 - I just hope they do it in a way that is realistic (read: no lisps or rainbows), meaningful, and true to the established character backgrounds. If they *do* retcon a character, then Shepard and the other squadmates should react accordingly... with legitimate surprise if and when they come out.

As for the bible being brought into this, religion is created by man and is therefore imperfect (to put it mildly).  God, if he exists, I would think to be perfect.  I  still more or less believe in a higher power (I  think the term deist best describes my views) but I have pretty much zero faith in the organized religions of the world.  That's just my view, not trying to force it on anyone.  Religion is only touched on briefly in ME that I  recall.  One when Shep is talking to Ash in ME1 and I the discussions between Shep and Thane got a little into his beliefs and managed to avoid a holy war.  And then of course there's the preaching hanar in ME1that I convinved to leave but in a respectful manner.  Not sure how religion got brought into this or why.  It's an OPTION to play as straight/gay/bi and neither is forced on you.  Live and let live peeps.

all in all, if they decide to make previously established characters bi, and if it is well-written, I won't have a problem with it. If you approached me a couple of years ago and asked me if I wanted Garrus and Tali as a LI I would have probably laughed in your face. But those two were handled in a respectful manner that I feel was well-done, so if they can manage to do that again, I'll be fine with it.

Or make one or two new guys, it doesn't matter. If gay romances offend your precious sensibilities you don't have to do them. That is why romances are optional content that is not necessary for the story.
