I support the principle of having same sex romance options. I don't support making old romances that weren't same sex romances before suddenly into the same sex now, other than maybe Jack.
No Kaidan and Ashley never stated flat out said they were not BI, but they were obviously not attracted to both Shepards.
You can make up anything really that wasn't explicitly denied. Ashley could have been born a man for all I know, that doesn't mean she should be written that way all of a sudden.
I also think that everyone being Shepardsexual would be kind of silly. Yeah I know it can happen but not to the degree it would need to in ME 3 with everyone around the same person begin attracted to them regardless of orientation. Besides, anyone who didn't romance Shepard in the first two games would already know Shepard, and they obviously weren't Shepardsexual before.
Frankly, if the situations were reversed and Shepard was a guy who could apparently turn lesbians straight, I can't imagine there would be a positive reception to such a notion.
That's good then since even if everyone tuned bisexual they wouldn't stop liking opposite gendered Shepards.
So one can't really compare it to turning lesbians straight. Turning lesbians bisexual on the other hand. Now that's just fine with me.

Hm, I think I've changed my mind about this game.
I may just have to buy two copies now.
Not exactly what I meant. Your fanboyism will gain you nothing.

It'll offset the loss of you not purchasing the game so that net profit remains equal, thus encouraging Bioware to continue to include s/s romance in future games.Volus Warlord wrote...

Feel free. It's your money.
Not mine. I'm really tempted to give up on Bioware entirely at this point.

That does not mean by any stretch of the imagination that M-M should not be possible. No, it just means that the guys who put 2 sticks together and ended up with a game - did not/chose not to make M-M romances available. It should have ended there, as the game designers are god when it comes to the design of THEIR game.
TL;DR - Should M-M romances have been possible? According to some, yes. According to BW, no. People see judgements and attacks upon themselves even when one does not exist.

I agree...BW made the decision to make them the way they were in the first two games...they are flip flopping more than politicians. If they had started out that way I wouldn't have a problem with it and I don't have a problem with new LI's have s/s romances but to just change midstream...doesn't work for me.

Ashley turned bi when she got her implants. Mental effects of the silicone.

I agree with both of you on this subject. I'm not against same sex romances, but not looking forward to the possiblity of already established characters suddenly being bi after two games.

They SPECIFICALLY said that it depends on how you handled your conversations with them in previous games. Were you sort of flirtatious with them somehow? Then maybe that's when the option will show up, otherwise I'm sure you just won't see it at all.

Armies throughout history have dealt with this in three ways: 1) ignore it (modern Israel and Western Europe), 2) prosecute it (the US and the Islamic world), or 3) embrace it (Greece, Rome and Sparta). While some homophobic societies can be downright brutal in trying to stop it, some believed it encouraged cohesion in fighting men.
Technically, this has already happened in ME2. Garrus has admitted that he was "never into aliens," but his time with Shepard has conditioned him to softening his view on sex between entirely different species.
Wouldn't most of us, myself included, become ill if Shepard had sex with a monkey? Yet she has more genetically in common with a tailed primate than she does with Garrus. Several characters had commented that Turians are incredibly sensitive to human germs and Mordin warned Shepard that dealing with Garrus' bodily fluids could be unpleasant for her.
Granted, it would seem awkward if previously established characters suddenly made overt passes or made same-sex Shepard act like femShep did when she first talked to Jacob on board the Normandy (one of the reasons I think so many "hate" Jacob is because femShep automatically went into heat during that conversation whether you wanted to or not). It was awkward when Jack, for no apparent reason, suddenly decided she wasn't a "girl's club" type of person even though she admitted to lesbian flings in her past (she hardly seems the type to have a religious conversion). If a previously established character did show romantic interest, I hope Bioware has the character explain their new preference like Garrus did.

I'd certainly hope so. I don't want characters who have been a certain way through 2 games (in my eyes) hitting on shepard if he never hit on them.

And its not exactly like Bioware is flip-floppin on the same sex romances. I mean it is possible for Shepard to go through the first two games without getting romantically involved, thus making his sexual orientation unknown. With what is looking like some intense emotional stuff going on in ME3, i would suppose its possible that shep would finally become romantically involved. Besides no one is forcing you to do romances in general. I personally support that people should be able to make the exact Shep that they want.

So one can't really compare it to turning lesbians straight. Turning lesbians bisexual on the other hand. Now that's just fine with me.
Well I suppose I should have said "turning lesbians straight but only for him" but that sounded awkward. Still, maybe not as much as there would be for literally turning lesbians straight, but making a character that is essentially the one and only man than lesbian characters would sleep seems to me that it would be the type of thing that would get a lot of negative attention for being something that panders to male fantasies.
At the end of the day though, even if it was "turning lesbians straight" is the basic principle really that different? A lesbian or a straight woman still aren't into both genders any more than they would be just into men or women respectively.

They already are.
As long as there won't be DA2 grade leg-humping, I'm fine with this.
Also, I don't understand why people are so damn obsessive about the romances, were they for or against them.
Of course they shouldn't take over the damn game, and the option to skip them shouldn't be as empty as the option to skip a quest, but it taps into pretty basic human emotions, just like these world-saving plots, and adds a nice variance to the emotion spectrum the game offers.

Well, they're all gonna be hastily slapped together so that everyone gets to **** their favorite character... that's a lot of crap to put together.. lol.
I'd rather kill the vast majority of them than **** them.
