I seem to remember back on the old forums that someone confirmed same sex relationships for ME2...which obviously failed to materialize. I'd love to believe this, but I'm going to need a bit more than a tweet for confirmation. I've had my hopes dashed by this franchise too many times. (That being said, if this is actually true, I really hope Kaidan is included as an m/m option.)

I really hope they make it clear whether or not you're getting into a romance or not. I found it annoying when I tried to talk to crew members and Shep started hitting on them.

This is why the heart icon in DA2 was such a freakin' godsend.

Dude, they aren't going to FORCE it upon you like that.
They SPECIFICALLY said that it depends on how you handled your conversations with them in previous games. Were you sort of flirtatious with them somehow? Then maybe that's when the option will show up, otherwise I'm sure you just won't see it at all.

That's not really the point of my objection. I don't think any romances should be forced on the player but If given the choice, I myself would much prefer that they did force the player to deal with a same sex romance from a completely new character than make an old character a same sex romance that I could avoid if I wanted.

But besides that, any old characters that would be made into SS romances in ME 3 couldn't be flirted with anyway, so they'd have to include it for all players somehow.

Sexuality, history, and personality really have very little to do with each other. Sure, they all play off one another, but there is no set formula.

Let's say, I don't know, Wrex (for sh*ts and giggles) prefers other men. Does that mean he's not manly as hell? Does that mean you suddenly have to watch your back around him?

Dude, I'm bisexual, and I am most definitely NOT attracted to everyone.

We all know Wrex is a flamer. NOBODY showed more joy at Shepard being alive than Wrex. His cry of "Shepard!" still brings tears to my eyes.

And don't forget that Krogan men and women appear to stay separate except when they need to have children. All the males, full of all that testosterone, alone with each other, complimenting each other on their "quads."

And those Krogans depicted having relationships with Asari? That's just sick.

Not exactly what I meant. Your fanboyism will gain you nothing.

It'll offset the loss of you not purchasing the game so that net profit remains equal, thus encouraging Bioware to continue to include s/s romance in future games.

Bwahaha.

Might as well go ahead and get yourself three copies. If I develop a passing interest late next year I might youtube the ending of the series, but as of now I'm done with EA/BroWare. You folks have fun and don't ever change.

Wrex has a mancrush on your Shepard.

Never played the first one, so Wrex is dead.

And if that was Wrex, I'd kill him.

Amen to that. I tripped over on Kaiden once and Jacob twice. Jacob is sooo easy to get into a romantic conversation with... its hard to actually avoid it. On my insanity playthrough, i had to specifically not to speak to Jacob apart from when he requested his loyalty mission - simply so i wouldnt screw up my relationship with Liara.

Feel free. It's your money.

Not mine. I'm really tempted to give up on Bioware entirely at this point.

Why are you even on the Mass Effect forums?  Just to bash the game and the people discussing it?  Are you insecure and this is a way to make yourself feel better? I just don't understand.  I have a strange feeling you pursued a career field that you despise.  I hate golf, therefore, I do not golf.  Simple, isn't it?

Wrex was Bi but the game couldn't take the power of his love thus he was removed from being a LI.

Well I suppose I should have said "turning lesbians straight but only for him" but that sounded awkward. Still, maybe not as much as there would be for literally turning lesbians straight, but making a character that is essentially the one and only man than lesbian characters would sleep seems to me that it would be the type of thing that would get a lot of negative attention for being something that panders to male fantasies.

At the end of the day though, even if it was "turning lesbians straight" is the basic principle really that different? A lesbian or a straight woman still aren't into both genders any more than they would be just into men or women respectively.

It's vastly different.

In one it can be seen as the male "straightening her out." and telling her homosexuality was wrong.

In the other she simply fell in love witha man. There's a large difference between the message the two send.

And actually if handled correctly with her actually falling in love with him but realizing she still liked women yet she liked him as well. Would be just fine.

As long as she doesn't do some "I no longer like women." crap it can be a very powerful story of discovery.

And I've seen no serious (that wasn't obvious trollingor joking) pushing for making previous LIs strictly heterosexual. So the analogy doesn't really work.

Let's stay on the topic at hand, please. If you think someone is trolling, use the reporting mechanism built into the social network. Thank you.

EDIT:  The original post dealt with the supposed fact that there would be no new love interests in ME3.  Casey Hudson has confirmed in his Twitter feed, however, that there had been changes in development since the interview and that there were actually same sex love interests for both male and female characters.

Happy to confirm #ME3 supports wider options for love interests incl. same-sex for m&f chars,
reactive to how you interact w/them in-game.

Since the topic has changed, here's some new questions.  What do all of you think about the addition of same-sex love interests?

I support inclusivity and I think it's great that Bioware is listening to it's fan base. I only wish they had started this with first Mass Effect game, but better late than never.

Does the topic at hand include calling people pitiful, stupid, useless, misled, incompetent (sorry, 'incompetant'), and fanatical?

On topic now, ain't it beautiful that Bioware didn't turn its back on love? :-)

I didn't mean to come across as disparaging.

It's just something I happen to be sick of.

I just hope that new romance options are actually new romance options, and they don't go the DA2 route of just doubling up all the LIs and calling it a day.

Here's hoping they execute it well! :D Sooo excited to finally be able to play a gay Male Shepard. I am so giving Bioware a ton of my money with whatever fancy collector's edition they'll have now.
