Exactly why I don't understand why they would be adding this so late in the trilogy, Has anyone in Bioware actually confirmed?

Just the statement by Casey Hudson on twitter so far which is still vague but does mention same sex romances. The first post in this thread has a link to it.

Dude, they aren't going to FORCE it upon you like that.
They
SPECIFICALLY said that it depends on how you handled your conversations
with them in previous games. Were you sort of flirtatious with them
somehow? Then maybe that's when the option will show up, otherwise I'm
sure you just won't see it at all.

What?  I couldn't flirt with Kaidan or Garrus in any way in the previous games as maleshep.  So are they going to choose some response I did to a specific conversation that I thought was just a normal response to a question as the "you flirted with him" flag?  When I had no hidden meaning behind the response?  I'd be pretty annoyed if that was the case.

Hmm:

Shep:  Umm, you are talking about that last drink you ordered, right?Image IPB

Jacob: Look at this, sneaking gay romances into Mass Effect 3. Heavy risk, but the prize.

Yeah thanks, I checked that out :) People usually judge others on why they wouldn't want same-sex romance in the game. Some are just pure haters but there are people like me whose reasons aren't shallow. One of my main reasons would be that the game has already established Shepard's and the other character's personalities and throughout the two games they all appeared to be generally heterosexual.

To introduce same-sex late in the game would blow a huge chunk of character development. In clarity, I don't oppose same sex in any game I just oppose it being implemented this late.

Agreed, at this stage it just seems wierd.

They BETTER handle this better than they did with Jack, otherwise this could lead to even more awkward moments.

It's people like you and attitudes like this that are the reason why Kaidan was so afraid to profess his love for your ManShep!

This is start of Mass effect the love sim, what an epic fail. I thought bioware was making an rpg/fps, not some kind of trashy Bishoujo game set in space. I guess i shouldn’t be surprised, guess this is gonna be some kind of reaching out to increase the player base but its gonna alienate some gamers.

I'm okay with this as long as its not characters already in a state of romance.

What I mean by this is I'd rather they focus on developing the pre-existing romances rather than splitting that time to make said characters romanceable for Shepard's that have not even initiated a romance with them yet.

Samara for example or someone like Shiala or this new Vega character I think would be senisble.

I'm happy they've found a way to accomodate other players' preferrences. I would've understood it if they hadn't, but they did. Kudos.

I'm fine with it as long as it doesn't turn out like Anders' being pushy straight away in DA2... It felt so wrong and shallow and 'Will&Grace' gay cliche. I was upset, well, not upset, it just felt awkward... it was either insult him hard to stay on friends term or embrace the Maker with him and feel sorry afterwards. So, tis fine, people should have choices, but no more DA2 Anders episode, it was just wrong.

I actually just read Casey Hudson say disregard any older news and that some of the romances won't be in your squad and after the tease they had in 2 I think it is easily possible and highly probable.

Wow, why does there need to be same sex romances... Like seriously, it doesn't add anything to the game, exept something for pre teens to laugh at.

Because apparently developers can be influenced by enough complaining or political correctness guilt trips. Adds nothing for the rest of us but if you don't like it you're a bigot.

 I agree with you completely.

On the new character thing, id rather they make 2 characters that are just straight up gay. One being male and other being female.

But for Pre-existing characters I agree Jack makes sense to be bi.

''Kaidan! So glad to have you back on board. The Normandy needs you."
"Sex?"

And we reload the game to choose a different dialogue option.
Seriously though, I don't mind really. I just don't want it to randomly spring up (so to speak). If it's organic and if *I* push it then sure. Otherwise, plz no.
This goes for hetero romances as well, which were handled pretty terribly in ME2. I want to help Jack, not bonk her!

Male or female, it doesn't matter. Garrus will still prefer to do his calibrations.

I hope there is a way to tell if you are romancing them, maybe have pink dialogue options so you know what your getting in to. ME2, my femShep tried talking to the males purely to get the extra paragon points, and suddenly Jacob, Garrus and Thane all thought their Christmases came early.

Is it me or are people on spaceships extremely horny and desperate?

Well, regardless of romance, Femshep sounds like she's frothing at the mouth when talking to Jacob.

My response on another forum to a person screaming at anyone complaining about being flirted on.

"Or perhaps I do not wish to have reduced dialogue content with my favorite squadmates unless I opt for the romance. You know, like Mr. Calibration over there. This is my immediate qualm with the bi-sexual all around hoopla that has materialized. If there is one thing BioWare has been woefully inept upon. It would be creating friendship arcs for either gender's LIs in the event you choose not pursue a romance. DA2 was particularly irksome because declining a same sex advancement also impacted negatively on that character.

We have had this discussion before and the only variation I would support is a player initiated system. Upon the first or second conversational arc, Shepard can suggest the idea and only by his or her doing so can this romance arc be explored. The squadmates will never bring it up themselves. Frankly, I would welcome this for all genders and all romances. In addition, there must under no circumstances, an engaging and properly designed friendship arc for those of us disinterested in a romance.

If BioWare can deliver the aforementioned, then by all means I welcome them. If not, then bugger off.

There should be a clear distinction between pursuing a friendship and pursuing a relationship. I went too far with Jack and had no idea. I was just trying to reach out to her... not romance her.

If that misudnerstanding happened with a male character it would be even more awkward for my hetero male Shepard... they better handle that right.
