I play Hawke as a mage and also have Merrill in party. If each of them use the Elemental Weapons abilities do they stack? I'm guessing no if it is the same element.
But what if each of them use a staff with different elements? One uses cold and the other electricity. Would the enemy feel extra cold and electric damage? Would they also feel a slow effect from cold and a stunning jolt from electricity?
Sorry if this is been answered elsewhere but I haven't seen it.
I appreciate any insight.
One more thing is the 'Messy Kills' attribute just a visual affect or does it add any extra damage or have any other benefit?

As far as I can tell you get the bonus only form 1 elemental weapon buff, even though the weapon tooltip shows +x dmg for both.
Messy kills are just visuals. Not sure how they can make them even more messy than default though, the game is as bloody as japanese gore movies.
