its a 18 for some inexplicable reason so why not contain nudity when it will add to the game. heavy rain had loads of nudity witcher had those silly cards and witcher 2 has advertised scenes with nudity red dead had nudity bioware should just bite the bullet and do it

I don't care whether there's nudity or no nudity. I just wish the romantic scenes would have actually been more...romantic. And longer! They were so short in DA2 that if you blinked, you'd miss them.

Except for the Merrill one, which confounded me. I tried her friendmance, and really wasn't all that impressed. Fenris got his own song. His own song! But we got to see a semi-aggressive kiss and a candle. It started off strong, but fizzled.

Come on BW, you can do better than that. I've seen it.

So what was the point of showing those scenes with shirtless characters as screenshots before the game was released?

Other than to outright mislead and scam us into thinking there was gonna be sex and nudity, I don't see any other reason.

You mean the girl in the dungeon? She was about to get raped (most probably) before Geralt went in there and kicked ass. I don't think they would show it.

The game is meant for mature audiences only, and frankly if you're not 17 you shouldn't have these games. 17 year olds can handle this stuff. 8 year olds shouldn't even come close to it.

In the USA a 17 year old is legally a child and cannot be shown anything that an 8 year old cannot see. In most countries where DA is sold, this is also the situation. This means that all it takes is one complaint and one zealous prosecuter and EA/Bioware is in legal trouble.The legal fees could mean that you will not have EA/Bioware to kick around anymore.

Hollywood has been doing this for decades. Trailers are often shot separately from the movie and contains scenes that do not appear at all in the movie. Book publishers have been doing this for decades as well for book covers. The courts have generally ruled that it is your problem if you fall for the hype in ads. Learning to see the hype for what it is, is what growing up is all about.

Europeans are puritanical in the opposite way. Countries such as Sweden censor violence. The UK censors anything violent involving children. This discussion was done a long time ago when Baldur's Gate first came out and people in Europe were buying the American version to get all the uncensored violence options. This was also when Bioware did not have separate forums for various countries and you can see the postings from Europe and understand them as they were in English.

What sex?!? DA:O had more sexual content than DA2! How disappointing considering that even the romance side just stopped...without any hint there ever was a romance until the very end! Then all you get is a brief scene that suggests MAYBE they stayed together....

Eh I didn't care for the lack of nudity. I'm sure there are mods to fix that. Although some of the scenes themselves could have been worked out better. I think it's more of a flaw with how and when you talk to your LI's.

In DA:O you had these long conversation chains where Morrigan/Leliana/Alistair/Zeveran talked to a plastic faced Warden. But at least you got to learn a lot about them and the romances seemed to grow.

In DA2 Hawke makes weird flirty advances (some of the lines to Merrill were delivered kinda creepily, where as all his joke flirts with Isabella were painful) so the mechanic itself felt clunky. Just press heart to love isn't as compelling as hearing more dialog and getting to know the character's motives (one of the many reasons I really came to like the Morrigan romance). It creates a disconnect. Then you also get weird gaps such as waiting for Isabella or Fenris for 3 DAMN YEARS between acts 2 & 3. Hawke's just been made champion and you're going to hold out on the sexy time? Yeah right.
Also, having Anders or Merrill stand in your house and only say 1 thing... lame... Whats the point of having a house if you can barely interact with the people in it? They don't need a "Lets go to my tent" line but give Merrill/Anders something to do!

I don't want a dating sim but I do want the romances to be compelling. The romance scenes should be used to make it feel like an accomplishment, not a conquest. (Unless of course you're playing the "playboy" style hero I guess.)

Yes it's something to complain about because they advertised it in the first place. I wouldn't have cared much if those screenshots never surfaced. If there wasn't going to be naked sexy time, then Bioware/EA should have jolly well stated so, instead of posting screenshots showing naked romance scenes to get our hopes up.

Also, this is not just about Fenris. Naked Merrill with MaleHawke, as well as Isabella in underwear playing with Hawke in underwear on the bed was also shown.

No major distributor (gamestop, best buy, walmart) puts A/O games on their shelves. You'd never see the game anywhere if the series were A/O.

they'd have to literrally distribute the game themselves to get it out and that would be incredibly hard.

It would sell 50,000 copies at most and be a complete and utter failure.

They aren't talking about a full-fledged sex scene but something like we got in Mass Effect 1 or what you see in R-rated movies.

No Bioware is just scared of getting Fox News attention again.  All they have to do is go on one of their programs and point out the rating of the game and that if kids were playing it then it's the parents' problem for ignoring the rating system.  It's not like it was back in the days of ME1 and older games with sex.  Alot of gamers are adults now.
