I like ME because of story, gameplay and romances. Romances are BioWare's trademark, and it hasn't let them down, because a vast majority of players enjoy them.

Do you watch movies where the entire thing is predictable start to finish with no emotion? Drama involves romance.

I can't find it in my heart to care, sorry.

I'd say the fact that people actually care about video game characters is testament to Bioware's prowess in striking emotional chords with their audience in writing, interaction, cinematic presentation, and voice acting.jpace335 wrote...
this is what i'm talking about. It mat be possible that you pick that option because it's hilarious, but on the off chance that you actually love a mass of polygons we can see the problem with that portion of the fanbase.

Let me first say that I have been a fan of these games from the beggining. This is for two reasons: story and gameplay. I do NOT consider the romances to be part of the story. Sure, we all know the LI will become a plot device in ME3 w/ a choice of "Save Earth or save your LI". Come on. Why do you people feel the need to beg for more of this trite crap? This has got to stop. Bioware, I feel like you think these people begging for more people to **** in ME are the majority of the fanbase.
Romances are optional. You miss none of the major storyline without a romance. Coming on here and ****ing about expanded romances, which you'll easily skip, is immature and plain silly.

If there's nothing wrong in ME1 and ME2, what exactly are you complaining about? Did I miss ME2.5 or something?jpace335 wrote...
there's nothing wrong with romance. I thought it was well implemented in the first one. Hell, even ME2 was ok in that respect. But it's becoming something else entirely than just a plot supplement.
Unless...
Dude, you've played ME3? Tell me, what's it like?

And cheez, I understand the importance of eliciting emotion in players, viewers, readers, whatever. But some people actually love characters to the point of infatuation.

That's too much, too many.
I'm glad that there won't be more in ME3, I don't care about half of the existing ones.

So your argument is that Bioware should remove any sort of romance from Mass Effect 3 because some people have a crush on the characters?jpace335 wrote...

I highly doubt they'll make you choose between Earth and your LI. I mean, it doesn't even make rational sense based on what we know.
Earth will already have been harvested by the time the final battle comes around. The point will be "retaking it"...you want me to choose between a planet already devoid of life and a living person? Time to move to colonies, because humanity is one planet down.

That's not the point at all. It's the point of character immersion. And some people find it realistic, nigh, probable that the character called Shepard would fall in love. It has nothing to do with "loving" the character, only that the character you plan "loves" them.
It's a very, very important distinction and the difference between role-playing and delusional.

Ok, c'mon. My complaint with ME3 is
Hudson's admission that romances will be expanded from the way they were
implemented in ME2. This is because you guys have an 8,000+ reply
thread asking for more alien ass. Think of this way: there were no gay
options for Male Shepard in ME1. Now Casey Hudson says that will be
included in ME3. not canon.
Not canon? Why isn't it? There is nothing "canon", only "decisions", and you can now make the "decision" to be gay. I'm not going to pick it but Id rather be damned than complain that someone else wants to.
