Somehow, I knew this thread would be about gay romances.

If you analyze a thread long enough, hard enough, or careful enough...it'll inevitably turn out to be about one of three topics:

1.) Gays
2.) ****'s
3.) Sex

You don't understand Cheez. It's in the game because you asked for it, not an artistic decision.

Somehow, I knew the "insecure" card would pop up.
Obvious defense to criticism.

It's a videogame.

If the option was there from the very beginning, hey no problem. The problem is the fact that it's being added to satisfy cries for more romance in an already romance filled game.

If my femshep can't romance Zaeed or TIM then she's going to let the galaxy burn.

Gamers pay for games. Why would they want to make an "artistic decision" to not make money?

there's nothing wrong with romance. I thought it was well implemented in the first one. Hell, even ME2 was ok in that respect. But it's becoming something else entirely than just a plot supplement.

proof besides your own opinion would be awesome

Gotta admit, I don't mind about any ****ing romances as long as they aren't put in horribly like in DA2. I want Garrus to be my bro, and I want Joker to be my Bro, I don't want them HITTING ON ME every ten minutes. Some characters, I would be intresting to have them gay, like the new Quarian member. Sure, why not, but they shouldn't go back and change the someones whole CHARACTER to make them homosex compatible.

We've nine (ten if we count Kelly) romances in ME1/2.
That's too much, too many.
I'm glad that there won't be more in ME3, I don't care about half of the existing ones.

Actually, there will be more (don't know how many exactly), they just won't be with any new characters. Yeah, Joker, I'm lookin' at you! Better stock up on Extra Strength Tylenol, messare, 'cos my fem and m!Sheps aren't gonna to be able to keep their hands off ya. Image IPB

Why do people only care about romance in the game? It's killing Bioware.

I just don't want to be in a conversation to further the plot and be met by come-ons in response. Happened with jack in ME2. Just trying to be polite, ****.

Why can't we just have a story driven space rpg without interstellar orgies.

excessive.  If romance was all people cared about in a game, I don't see Mass Effect being much of a priority for them.  Roamances are fine because it's just additional content for entertainment.  Why else do you play video games?  If you don't like romances, you're in luck because they aren't mandatory.  Surely you already knew that?

And cheez, I understand the importance of eliciting emotion in players, viewers, readers, whatever. But some people actually love characters to the point of infatuation.

Weird, isn't it?

Garrus <3

(My poor boyfriend has to put up with it, lol)

You mean your other boyfriend, right? Because...Garrus <3

;)

I'm only kidding.  Garrus isn't real, after all...or is he.

Yeah, romances and deeper character interactions are a BW hallmark.  It's one of the cornerstones to their normally-awesome games.  Romances may not affect the overall story arc, but they are important to BW's fans...and really, they serve to suck more people into the IP and keep them invested in it.

They've already said that they want to continue making ME-world games after ME3. Why not put out a dating sim for their extra ideas so everyone's happy? ME3's already shaping up to be one.

DUDE.
Fenris never flirts with you, and you can turn Anders down before he ever flirts with you.

You have the option to stay single, so if you don't want to romance anybody, don't. They aren't forcing Shepard to hook up with anybody. It's really the players choice.
I, however, like the romances, and I am glad BioWare included them. I want my Sheps' relationships to continue.
