I believe that if bioware does decide to expand Dragon Age 2 either by DLC's or even an Expansion they need to add more LI's the thing is that I do like both Isabella and Merrill they both are great but I hope for better options via DLC or Expansion.

And as an avid Aveline fan she would be at the top of my list

My choices would be some thing like this

I admit that I would love an Aveline romance with an M!Hawke (because Aveline just seems straight to me, IMO) and my F!Hawkes can have Fenris. (Because Anders is kinda crazy (I find the Justice thing a little... unsettling), Merrill's the "little sister" type (which is why I'll never romance her ever), and Isabela's awesome, but I'd rather have her as a friend. She doesn't seem serious enough.)

I see it like this I have 2 Hawkes both are Male Hawkes and my problem is that of all possable Romance options I only like Isabella

I also can't really see Merrill as anything more than a little sister type as well I love her character and story but I just don't find her appealing in any type of romantic fashion.

As everybody on this thread knows that I am a devout fan of a Hawke/Aveline Romance I have always said that it could have been great I always figured Aveline would be in charge of their relationship putting Hawke in his place and keeping him in line it would have been awesome.

Here are my Hawkes I seriously hope that in future DLC/Expansions Bioware gives us a few new LI's because my main Hawke is Single and lonely because he can't be with his Guardian "Curse you Bioware" lol

I agree with almost everything you said (anders: crazy/creepy Merrill: off limits too young seeming Isabella: most fun BFF) 'cept I could only romance Aveline with the first Hawke I played as who was a female rogue because she called dibs, my male Hawke however is very happy with Fenris.

Geez for me Aveline was the most interesting choice, story and looks, since before the game was out. Not being able to romance her is definitely a boomer!

I think an Aveline romance would be cute and awkward, judging by the Donnic thing.
Also she was the only one of the party members that came with Hawke from Ferelden, I always thought they should have done more with that fact. Er, the fact that she'd been with Hawke the longest.

I know. It's hard to accept Bioware passed up the potential of an Aveline-Hawke romance.   Maybe they are scarred from the outcry after the Morrigan-Warden cliffhanger that was finally resolved with Witch Hunt.

The reason why I always romance Fenris with an F!Hawke is all because of one line that changes depending on gender. I'll go find it later, but my point is that the line he says to girl Hawke sounds a LOT flirtier than the line he says to male Hawke.

But back on topic, Aveline just seemed more romancible to me, so imagine my heartbreak when the lovely redheaded warrior went with boring ol' Donnic instead. Not that I didn't enjoy "A Long Road". Aveline does adorably awkward without turning into Merrill, which is why I love her. <3 I have a weakness for strong, tough, but utterly awkward socially characters, because they're so endearing and awesome. (Which is also part of the reason why I'm a Fengirl.)

For me the most interesting about her is her character which makes her irresistible (for those who wonder why there are such big fans of her, for me is the fact that she is a very correct pearson). I just hope that someone in Bioware read our forum and don't waste such wonderful persona. Maybe in one expansion things would improve...
Well, for now my Mage is so devastaded that he turned a Blood Mage to cope with the pain of a broken heart. XD

I so agree with you man. Kudos to Bioware's creativity, but not at the expense of basic formulas.

Don't go blaming people wanting to romance who ever they want for one character not being a love interest. I find the idea that she wasn't a LI because she wasn't bi ludicrous. The writers merely wrote her as a woman who is not romance for the player character. They also already did put in a heterosexual romance for Hawke: Sebastian.

It seems some people just want to blame the bisexual romances for everything next thing the Bi LIs will be blamed for the Awesome Button, reused environments and hideous NPCs

How is Sebastian a hetero romance for a Male Hawke? I must not know since my Male (Hetero) Hawke never hit on Sebastian...

Sebastion is a Hetero Romance Option for Female Hawkes not Male Hawkes I am not attacking the everbody is bi sexual path but I still believe that there should have been some Straight Romance options like Morrigan & Alistair in Origins.

Add me to the list of people who want to romance Aveline.
I'm still on my first playthrough and haven't seen all romances yet, but so far I'm quite unhappy with the options.
I wanted to play a heterosexual femHawke and started flirting with Anders. OMG, I haven't seen such terrible writing since Jacob (ME2). I can't put up with that drama queen Anders, sorry. Well, actually Hawke's replies are just as bad. "Maybe I like pain" or something? Seriously, BioWare?!
So I ditched him for Fenris. I mean, come on, it's Balthier's voice! I'm going to love Fenris, I thought.
Well, no, not really. I was quite appalled by his cruel killing of the mage who begged for his life. Then he killed Hadriana and shouted at Hawke... I accepted his apology, but I'm not too fond of guys with huge anger issues :/
So none of the male options seem right for my harmony seeking Hawke.

Aveline on the other hand seems perfect. Never mind the fact that she was married to a guy. I can totally see her big sister type of affection turning to romantic love.
I don't know what it is with female protectors and mentors...
I so wanted to romance Wynne with my female mage, too! (Loved the Alistair romance, too, though)
I'm a heterosexual woman, mind you.
I wonder if I'd want to romance her with a male Hawke, too... probably.

If Aveline was a guy, I wouldn't mind, either, I guess. Her devotion to Hawke reminds me of Garrus...
I was so thrilled when I finally could romance Garrus...until I did and was disappointed, but thanks anyway BioWare.

I like Aveline's personality best of all the companions so far.
I usually like dark romances and slightly psychotic characters which is why I initially turned to Anders. But when it comes to DA2, I've come to appreciate the one companion who is emotionally healthy, ambitious but kind. Strong and independent, yet completely devoted to Hawke. The supportive sibling" Hawke never found in Carver.
But unlike ME's Tali or Liara, Aveline is not so ridiculously non-judgmental in love type of woman.
She could have been one of the few female no nonsense LIs who give Hawke grief for violating her moral code.

Since I haven't finished the game yet, I'm still hoping for a Samara scene at least, but judging from your comments, it's not going to happen
I thought there might be because of a heart option at some point.
Guess my Hawke will stick to Fenris while hopelessly pining for Aveline...

I wouldn't call it a Samara scene, but there were some moments in her Long Roads quest that made me feel like the game was having a good time teasing the hell out of me.   Samara left my Shepard feeling like a prom night reject.  The tail end of Aveline's quest made me wish for what could have been.  Damn you, Bioware.  What can I say, I am sucker for pretty, tough women with freckles.

Yeah I agree as a hardcore Bioware fan I personally thought that the Shepard/Samara End Romance Scene was touching and sweet her rejecting my Shepard sucked but I was like oh well and moved on with Miranda.

Now as to Aveline I was utterly devastated when I found out that My Hawke couldn't Romance her and then to add insult to injury we had to help her get with Donnic in the The Long Roads I was Heartbroken and seriously conflicted about Dragon Age 2 after that I actually stopped playing that Save and wen't back to Mass Effect 2.

My Hawke is going to remain single maybe in Dragon Age 3 He can hook up with Morrigan,Leliana or Cassandra one can hope right because I have no intrest in romanceing either Isabella or Merrill.

The thing I really disliked about this awesome game more than anything was that the best two Female Characters in the whole Game Bethany & Aveline were not options for romance Bethany has a good excuse being Hawkes Sister So she's out but Aveline has no good excuse she could have been an option but bioware screwed over the large portion of her fans who wanted to romance her.

You do realize that after you romance Isabella you can even stop her from screwing Zev, the only thing she says is "Fine... but there will be sex later" So after she falls in love with you as long as you don't do anything to break her heart she will be faithful also. I'm sure she will ask if she can or not but I'm sure as long as you "reward" her well enough she is happy to be faithful to you.

The point i am making is that I think that a Hawke/Aveline Romance would have been better than either Isabella's or Merrills.

I already stated earlier that of the 2 available Female romances I like Isabellas the most but I still think that Aveline is the best and most compelling Female in Dragon Age 2 I never romance Merrill I always romance Bella but I love my Guardian

I may be alone in this but, though I wanted Aveline to be romanceable, I think having Hawke "friendzoned" has been more fun and it makes it more real, as Hawke is not this super awesome character everyone wants to sleep with (wich happens with Shepard).

I just believe Aveline and Hawke had such potental I can imagine the party banter Varric and Isabella Ribbing Aveline about her and Hawke the possabilities are endless but instead we get Isabella and Merrill

Isabella feels like one of my Hawkes Best Friends "Isabella & Varric" Merrill always gets Friendzoned by my Hawkes because I don't find her appealing in that way.

But I love Aveline so much even thought according to Hawke she Can be Forcefull

Most of my straight M!Hawkes would have romanced Aveline, if she were available. Since she wasn't, they went for Isabela. Merrill is cute, but she hits that "little sister" vibe too perfectly to make her a serious romance option. Granted, Isabela isn't a "serious" romance option, either, but she's the woman my straight male Hawkes experiment with for "right now" and it winds up lasting indefinitely. But only because Aveline isn't available.

I feel I may be in the minority here, but I was sort of relieved that say Varric and Aveline were not romanceable. It was sort of refreshing to have party members who were resistant to a heart button click away from jumping Hawke's bones.

I felt it sort of added to their characters greatly, and hell I loved helping Aveline hook up with Donnic in several playthroughs.

I completely understand other's attractions to chracters, it means that are just that good. But it sort of gets tiring when <insert Bioware hero here> can get together with any party member with two legs.

My honest opinion is that Bioware really failed to deliver any Romances with any depth and meaning for Hawke I mean Origins had great Romance Options for the Warden but Hawke who in my opinion is a better Character than the Warden gets these lame options. I would rate the Dragon Age Romances like this
1 being the best and so forth.
