I have no problem with them introducing some new characters to fill the role of a same-sex LI; in fact I'd welcome it as it shows Bioware is not only willing to listen to its community but also handle mature issues despite the fact that it will no doubt bring the wrath of 'news' programmes like Fox.

However, I would have a problem if they changed any of the current characters to make them same-sex romance compatible, as that would be a pretty big change in their characters and I feel it could compromise who they are and their personalities that have built up over 35 to 70 hours.

I dissaprove. I didn't spend those 80 hours with older squadmates that another 30-40 hour of gameplay will make up for.
I SUPPORT OLD SQUADMATES' DIVERSE SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS.
If you don't want to see them, you won't. BioWare won't force it onto you like that unless you want it to be going that route.

creating characters Bi just to include homosexual relationships is just lazy and a form of backhanded compliment to the gay/lesbian players. They should just have a gay/lesbian character who has no interesting in a relationship with the opposite sex.

You know, like in real life.

I totatly agree there should at least be one character who has no interest in the opposite sex.

i approve the dissapproval....but only if done in a tasteful manner, doesnt come out of left field, and is exclusive to a set number of the squadmates (not all)

Yeah...instead of putting the effort in making everyone bi, I'd rather have BW focus on a single character and make him/her exclusivly gay.

Having all LIs align their sexual identity to Shephard kind of cheapens their character, imo.

I agree.

Making everyone bi is the worst thing they could do. I didn't like it in DA2, all the romances became a bit more the same-y, losing some individuality and specificity in the process. They ended up feeling less real. I'm all for sexual diversity among the crew but I think they can achieve that without making everyone Shepard-sexual all of a sudden.

This is great news - and long overdue.

And as a Kaidan fan, I am *much* more concerned with the potential mangling of his character to fit the combined Ashley/Kaidan role than I am with the idea of his romance dialogue becoming available for maleshep.

I'm so bored of Biowares false romances, when it came up as part of an interesting story arch then it was a great thing that they pulled off really nicely.

But now.. its just shoe horned in for the sake of it, the biggest battle of DA2 was not getting hit on by every single character rather than the bad guys. At least they left my pants alone.
I wanna hear about the RPG elements, locations, combat and other refinements not romance options which are there for no other reason and to say they are there.

Goddamn.
There's only probably going a select few. Only the few that were probably a given. (Before the final cut.)
Homophobes are running around with their heads cut off.

You really should be more careful when you throw the term homophobe around. If you pay attention 90% of the comments expressing concern are not saying that there should not be any homosexual relationships in the game, but there are legitimate worries about how they might integrate with already standing relationships especially in the light of how DA2 handled its love interests.

It looks Bioware finally caved in to adding this. Not that it's a bad thing though, I think it's fair and that gay players should get to role play their Shepard the way they want to and get to enjoy the game to the fullest like everyone else.

I wonder if Kaiden is bisexual? He seems really clean-cut and orderly and well mannered and it just seems fitting lol. Not to mention a lot of gay people say they find him attractive so I think that would be a great idea for ME 3.

You do know that the DA and ME team are different, right? They're both BioWare, but different teams.
I agree the relationships were not handled well in DA2, but they were in DAO.
I'm sure they won't destroy your "bromancing", they will find a way.
Just need to not worry so much, because you won't be affected by it unless you want it to occur.

As long as they don't pull a DA2 and force all LIs to be bi, I'm okay with this.

You are being unreasonable. I'm not against M/M romance (but not crazy about the idea, either),I just don't want old characters to become BI only now,in the third game. Like I said before,I don't mind them introducing new gay characters, though I would never even consider such thing for any of my Sheps.

And you said that they are probably going to select a few. On a 12 people team, even that's too much. Bisexuality is not a common thing.

Did those characters ever come out and tell you they were straight? No? Then you can't assume they're straight. The only exception is Jack. People need to understand that they never talk about their sexual preferences.

Absolutely and my original statement was not that this IS what is happening, it was merely a statement of IF they do that I think its a bad idea because of X and Y

They don't have to directly say that. I know plenty of people I never heard them say "I'm straight" or something, but I would bet my life (literally) that they are.

Also,I will now quote a post from another thread. I agree with this 100%:

SalsaDMA wrote...

The game series up till now have given you, the player, a clear image in your head about the characters and their personalities.

If any of the characters are suddenly doing an 180 on sexual preference, then it's no longer the same character in the players mind. Damage will be done to the characters continum regardless of wether you can tell the NPC to 'get lost', and the story as a whole will suffer from it.

Add to this that some people take offense if you seriously suggest that they are into s/s relations, and you have all the stuff you could want to make sure that ME3 is heading into a deroute for quite a few people, solely because of this.

I don't mind homosexuals. I do mind the increasingly homosexualization of bioware games that make it appear as if it's just as common, or more, than heterosexuality; especially when they change existing characterws in this regard.
