Back to the op asking for our own personal opinions...s/s for new characters or old characters who were not LI's is fine with me but I think how most people view the previous LI's have already been solidified in their minds and to change it now is only going to cause a firestorm of anger. The direction this thread has taken proves that.
As for those that don't want it at all...since BW has already made their decision...just don't buy the game if it's that big of a problem for you.
No offense, but that's lame. When the issue came up in both DA2 and after ME1, a frequent response to the Fight for the Love posters was "don't buy the game." Yet... continued complaining and millions of words on the subject later....
You reap what you sow, this issue IS going to ****** a lot of people off, and I guarantee that months after the game comes out people that didn't want the change will still be complaining about it. I won't be one of them, as really once the game is out who gives a rip, but some people will never let this go. Bioware will go down as making one of the most boneheaded and unneccessary design alterations in recent game history (and no, I'm not saying it will kill their sales, but it definitely won't help them either)... and for what? To appease maybe 500 people on their own in-house forums.
This... was... stupid.

If not and your opinions against homosexuals is REALLY that deep...Well then I cant really help you there.
and Sphynx, being a black heterosexual male, I don't condone any kind of hate for someone because they're "different". I've suffered enough bigots and racists in my short lifetime to realize that is a stupid and closed minded way to live.
Russ and Tommy are merely pointing out that one does not control whether they are born black/white gay/straight, they just are. and the sheer fact that one would even go so far as to compare being homosexual or bisexual to bestiality and pedophelia is beyond sick and goes beyond not only the forums but plain decency.
This thread has already been derailed by closed mindedness.
Bottom line is, same sex relationships have been in since day 1 (on the Femshep side) and if different species relationships are fine and people dont bat an eye... I fail to see how same sex relationships all of a sudden rock the boat.

Guys, stop responding to the obvious trolls.
Let's try to reign this thread back on topic.
I believe we were currently, politics and trolls aside, talking about the possiblity of nonsquad romances? Giana Parisini I think was the one being talked about I think.
IIRC, Bioware considered nonsquadmember romances in ME2 among multiple members of the crew but Kelly was the only one who made it into the final game.
IF we do get such an option to romance a male crewmember, I hope it has more depth than Kelly though.

Do you guys think this is going to mean that the love scenes are going to be even more tame now? Except for Miranda's of course. Because I thought the ME1 type were done well and they seemed to have tamed them down in ME2 (except for Miri) because of complaints. Do you think this trend will continue?
BW confirmed that there would be "sex"

I'm still not sure why you're so upset that other people will have options in their games that you don't have to choose. Your game is not affected. Okay, maybe they had to cut out an N7 mission where you follow an YMIR mech around and shoot some varren to make room on one of the discs for some same-sex lovin', but honestly, did you really think following an YMIR mech around and shooting varren was adding a new dimension to your game? Does the fact that other players want to bone a broad-hipped chicken in a purple wetsuit really take away from your game? Does the fact that somewhere in an alternate universe someone else's Shepard might prefer to get his freak on with another dude really affect your game? Really, what IS the big deal?

If anything there should be classy nudity. It's done in movies and this game is rated M. the clothed dry humping was a step down to T rated games. You don't have to show them going through the motions or anything but at least some nudity like there was in ME1.James2912 wrote...

In some ways, I think this is going to be inevitable. They're on record as saying they're going to be cutting down on available, playable squadmembers, because they felt the cast of ME2 was a little too big. I'd be very surprised if all the romanceable squaddies are actually playable. But we'll obiously be able to finish out the subplot, whether they are or not.

Pfft, those scenes in ME2 were silly. They may do that again, but wasn't there a lot of people who didn't like the whole fade to black issue?
Bioware can keep it tasteful though. ME1 worked well, IMO.

haha interesting. Its not like I'm saying they should be explicit I just thought the ME1 one second side boob fade out was fine and people complained. This is a MATURE game after all so everyone playing it SHOULD be adults.
And I def support Gianni being a new BI LI for ME3

It's your choice to play Mass Effect 3 or not. Unless you're saying BioWare are forcing you to play it.

I haven't even given a thought to who I want to see as a same-sex love interest. The Vega guy seems fascinating already, I feel shallow.

@SalsaDMA, did you read my post about how that "anything could happen" thing was said in the context of level design, to explain how have they improved it over the "fight rooms" in ME2? I posted the literal quote. I say this because you have been responding to people who posted after me.
As you said, it was pretty clear that the comment by him wasn't labeled on romances, which I weren't indicating either. My apoligies if that was unclear.
My response was basicly that they say alot of things in public statements to instill hype, but some of it is either inacurate or directly oppsite of the statements they are giving compared to what they are actually doing. That's why I brought forth the line to showcase the possibly clearest example of a statement with 'buzzwords' being the opposite of what they were actually doing.
Better?

There better not be any barechested male shepards...
From what I understand, male models shave their hair on the chest. I just can't envision my shepard without a manly dose of hair on his chest...
