Back to the op asking for our own personal opinions...s/s for new characters or old characters who were not LI's is fine with me but I think how most people view the previous LI's have already been solidified in their minds and to change it now is only going to cause a firestorm of anger. The direction this thread has taken proves that.

As for those that don't want it at all...since BW has already made their decision...just don't buy the game if it's that big of a problem for you.

No offense, but that's lame. When the issue came up in both DA2 and after ME1, a frequent response to the Fight for the Love posters was "don't buy the game." Yet... continued complaining and millions of words on the subject later....

You reap what you sow, this issue IS going to ****** a lot of people off, and I guarantee that months after the game comes out people that didn't want the change will still be complaining about it. I won't be one of them, as really once the game is out who gives a rip, but some people will never let this go. Bioware will go down as making one of the most boneheaded and unneccessary design alterations in recent game history (and no, I'm not saying it will kill their sales, but it definitely won't help them either)... and for what? To appease maybe 500 people on their own in-house forums.

This... was... stupid.

I'm still not sure why you're so upset that other people will have options in their games that you don't have to choose. Your game is not affected. Okay, maybe they had to cut out an N7 mission where you follow an YMIR mech around and shoot some varren to make room on one of the discs for some same-sex lovin', but honestly, did you really think following an YMIR mech around and shooting varren was adding a new dimension to your game? Does the fact that other players want to bone a broad-hipped chicken in a purple wetsuit really take away from your game? Does the fact that somewhere in an alternate universe someone else's Shepard might prefer to get his freak on with another dude really affect your game? Really, what IS the big deal?

It's not a big deal, it's over and done with. I will play the game, and probably really enjoy it. With that said, it was STILL a stupid decision to implement it after 2 games for such a small group of vocal dissenters (who just like me, would have still played ME3 regardless).

I reserve the right to point at Bioware and say "That's dumb. You're dumb. Fight for the Love is Dumb."

Do I expect anything to change? No way, I have accepted the result. I think it's absurd, but I've accepted it. To use a sports analogy, as a Raiders fan I think the Tuck Rule ruling in the Snow Bowl was one of the worst calls in NFL history (seconded perhaps by the Immaculate Reception, which also went against my team).

Fact is, the calls went the way they did, and my team lost a playoff game. Of course I accept the result, but the decision making that went into the result (in this case with s/s romances) I reserve the right to point out as absolutely misguided, pointless, and wrong.

There better not be any barechested male shepards...

From what I understand, male models shave their hair on the chest. I just can't envision my shepard without a manly dose of hair on his chest... :pinched:

Nooooooo, I can't stand body hair!!! :o No no no, they need to cover him up then.

im not trying to offend im just expressing my oppinion and asking questions in regards to other sexual categories and homosexuality and what seperates them. I dont feel any hate towards gays i just think gay content should be option.

If i dont wanna watch brokeback mountain..i dont buy the movie.. but i shouldnt need to do that with Mass Effect 3..it should be optional so i can remove it from the start and play without a worry :) doesnt that please the gays aswell as people like me ? why cant there be a comprimise why does it have to be the gay way or no way ?

^^

can a proud gay person please answer me nicely ?

Because unlike most of those sexual options, homosexuality actually involves two of age consenting humans. Not animals, or children that probably don't even know whats going on.

Also listen for once. IT IS OPTIONAL.

Well, there already IS a compromise. Your Shepard isn't required by the story to have gay sex with a dude. You can go on your merry way and romance all the girls you want, you don't even have to talk to the dudes if you don't want to. You make it sound like if you have Shepard say one line of dialogue by accident, you will immediately be thrust [pun intended] into a full-on gay porn scene. Ain't gonna happen, bro, so relax and enjoy the game the way you like, and don't try to keep other people from doing the same. No one is forcing Shepard to be gay.

Although, I have to say, I would find that quite hilarious. But since I only have two gay Shepards, it would be kind of a bummer for my other four.

By that same reasoning, shouldn't I have had a problem with all the heterosexual encounters I could have come across in ME1 and 2? I was able to avoid them due to the dialogue options though. Some people weren't, however. Hopefully BioWare will have eliminated that in ME3 and we'll all be happy.

okay im basing that on actual history and actual events that take place still to this day(except with animals).. but im talkin about the actual game option..

Why cant there be a comprimise ? Why cant gays be happy with the gay content just being a option in the menu somewhere ? "Gay Me Up?" than the gays get there gay stuff and the rest of the world gets there preference... cant there be a comprimise gays ?

Because homosexuality has been in the game since day one, and there isn't at toggle for it. No one whined then.

It is already optional. So don't do the homosexual things if you don't want it.

Why do people not get its that simple?

Really speaking - it's a matter of pressing a button at the beginning of the game versus pressing that button in the middle of the game.

Honestly? I don't want anyone hitting on Shepard. I think it should be 100% player initiated either way. Just like it's always been.

Horizon... that line of questioning and chest thumping has been ended.

Move on to the new topic at hand "Bare chested" or "Hairy Chested" Shephard.

I for one, vote for the middle ground.

Okay, can I ask you to stop addressing us all as "gays". I don't go around calling you "hetero". Also, a lot of people in support of same sex romances are straight.

Secondly, there has been same sex romances in the game since ME1. And there was no such filter then. Why should one be added now?

There was never a "Liara f/f LI toggle" so why should there be one for ME3?

Because this would be reenforcing a prejudice, something that we have fought long and hard to rise above, by allowing it ito be treated as "harmful material" strikes against everything we stand for........as proud human beings.

Well, I have my own laundry list of things I thought were dumb decisions. But I'm not spamming the Tali fan thread with reasons why boning a broad-hipped chicken in a wetsuit was a dumb idea, or spamming the Garrus fan thread with reasons why banging a giant bird cricket who may or may not even have compatible genitalia is a dumb idea, or spamming the Cerberus Is Teh Awesome threads with reasons why I think working with Cerberus goes against everything my Paragon Shepards stood for, or spamming the thermal clip and omnigel threads with reasons why...etc. We get it, you hate the idea of Gay Shepard. I hate the idea of Cerberus Whipping Boy Shepard, Talimancing Shepard, Garrusmancing Shepard, and Risen-From-The-Grave-And-No-One-Cares Shepard. But oh well. I'm not going to constantly go into those corresponding threads and swat people on the nose for liking those very things. This game's big enough for all of us to be happy with our favorite things.

The scenario I just described would mean you wouldn't see it if you didn't want to.

Even if you had the toggle, the code would still be there on the disc. I'm thinking this is your issue.

It will be an option, just like all romances are optional, just like all side quests are optional.

If i dont wanna watch brokeback mountain..i dont buy the movie.. but i shouldnt need to do that with Mass Effect 3..

And you won't, don't worry about it. The difference between watching a movie and playing an RPG is precisely the opportunity to choose how you play your game. It's your game, your Shepard, and you will have freedom to play it the way you want.

it should be optional so i can remove it and play without a worry :)

But if you remove it, you no longer have an option, do you? Is really that big a deal just to not pick an option in the dialogue wheel, the same way Paragons don't pick renegade lines they don't like, and renegades don't trigger paragon interruptions if they don't like them? It's really that trivial. You get a conversation wheel full of options, and you pick your own option.

doesnt that please the gays aswell as people like me ? why can there be a comprimise why does it have to be the gay way or no way ?

You see, the reason I feel bad about the trigger is that I don't think gay people should be removed beforehand, the same way other social groups of people shouldn't be removed because, after all, they have a right to exist, no? I interpret the desire to remove an entire group of people simply because of who they are (and the possibility of doing so) as an intolerant posture in the sense that you don't tolerate that people's existence, and that's not nice. However, an option in the dialogue wheel that you can pick or not, depending on what you want, is nice, and it has virtually the same practical result in the game, because if you don't pick the appropiate option in the conversation wheel, then you won't be able to notice anything 'queer' in any of your squadmates. You choose the option you want, I choose the option I want. Isn't that acceptable to you?

1) as with any romances, its optional, I have a shephard that doesn't have ANY romances.
2) Been in since day 1, where were you in 07?
3) Get off it already. Its not being "forced" on to anyone.
