I've never been a fan of Kasumi/Jacob as a serious pairing. If anything, I can imagine those two go off like rabbits but Kasumi backs out once it gets too serious. She just seems to want to have some fun. I've been more partial to the Miranda/Jacob pairing. Just look at that pitiful face she gives him after his loyalty mission...

I think that Miranda and Jacob should work on their issues because they do have a lot of stuff in common and it feels as though there are some feelings there. Kasumi is attracted to him but don't think she's interested in anything too serious. I feel like her heart is still Keiji's.

Do not bring religion into this thread please.

Including same-sex options is against the most basic Catholic and Protestant teachings. How can one not bring religion into this thread?

Because this forum has JUST gotten back to being nice. Plus, the OP is not about religion.

A fair amount of it comes from listening to Kasumi and reading the Shadow Broker dossiers.

Yeah, this isn't the religion thread. Take it somewhere else.

New question: What attributes would be most desirable for a good m/m LI, if it's NOT a returning character?

Agreed.  As much as I enjoyed Zevran, I don't think we need another M/M LI that is, on the surface, morally bankrupt and seedy.  Zevran had a lot of depth to him, but he encapsulated some harmful stereotypes.  He made sense in terms of the setting, though.

I think that a military background would be best. If the m/m LI is not a returning character, squad member or not, there's the issue of the LI not having any history with Shepard (contrary to VS, Liara, Garrus etc) and I feel like that would be something he would have in common with MShep. It's not much, but it's something. Hopefully JVega if not Kaidan.

Good, detailed story, lots of depth, a bit of a troubled past, capable of true affection but struggling with actually displaying it. What can I say, I like my boys to be dark but redeemable (Severus Snape */me ducks* ), or tortured but not dark (ie Kaidan)

I'd say stability's pretty high on my list.  As it stands, most of the Normandy could qualify for it's own version of the DSM.

As far as anything else, those qualities that make a good friend has proven to me to be a good foundation to build on for something more.

In DA2, Fenris and Isabela start hooking up in Act 3 if Hawke isn't romancing them. Which NPCs and/or squad members would you like to see hook up if not with Shepard?

I'll go first: Jack and Grunt.

Morinth and The Prize

Jacob and Ash...I think they have pretty similar views overall and moral inclinations...despite Jacobs opinion of the Alliance, I just think he and Ash could really hit it off.

Tali and Kal Reeger.

Some one mentioned Zaeed and Aethyta on another thread and I think he/she was onto something there.

Miranda and TIM, she would love that kind of power.

Everything we've heard about James Vega implies that he's a younger Alliance soldier, the kind of character who doesn't know what's going on in the story (so the other characters can provide exposition for the player to bring them up to speed, probably). Does the idea of James Vega being a younger character than Shepard, being a junior soldier, etc., make him any more or less appealing as a possible m/m love interest?

actually..if he is younger...that is probably less appealing in some way. I suppose it would probably depend on how "young" he is. younger than 24? no thanks. but if he were 28? sure. lol

Good looking
Great sense of humor
Someone who isn't too arrogant
Somewhat nice (not to thepoint where I start gagging though)
Decent morality (goes in with the somewhat nice. I don't want someone whose a okay with murder of innocents and slavery. no thank you.)
Somewhat idealistic (but with enough sense and real world knowledge to know that it will rarely work out.)
Determined
Sane
No daddy issues
Willing to talk to Shepard without getting uptight (I'm looking at you "I'm not big on forcing these talks.")
Willing to laugh at himself
Someone who can hold their own in a fight (preferably someone who saves Shepard for once).
Intelligent
Sexy accent

Less, imho, because the imbalance of power if we assume Shepard's gone back to being an Alliance commander is just too uncomfortable. Of course, if they fit that moral struggle properly into the romance, then it moves right into the more appealing camp for me.

Whatever happened to that English sniper from the trailer? Unless I've had a complete mindfart, he's not James Vega, right? Is he a potential squadmate?

Vega isn't Nigel Fishnchips.
Don't know if he's a squaddie either. I hope he is.

As far as age goes, hard call.  I'd say it depends on how much of an age gap.  For me anything more than an over/under of a couple years or so would make me raise an eyebrow, but then, that's just me filtering in personal experience.

Rank, well from what we've seen of Shep, if the feelings are strong enough, rank doesn't mean so much.

+1 for no daddy issues.:) If he has a loyalty mission, I sincerely hope it doesn't involve a family member, unless it's getting his family out of a tough situation (like they're pinned down by the Reapers or something). That would actually be kind of cool, now that I think about it. It could even tie into the overall story. Something tells me there are going to be more 'Sophie's Choice' type moments in ME3, like you can choose to help somebody, but it will mean you can't do something else you want to do. Talk about replay value! ;)
