If he's only a few years younger than Shepard, there shouldn't a problem. However, the fact that he might not have been with the Alliance for long could raise some issues such as idolizing Shepard or awkwardness with the whole rank protocol.

Whatever happened to that English sniper from the trailer? Unless I've had a complete mindfart, he's not James Vega, right? Is he a potential squadmate?

Someone should drop Casey that question about the sniper since all the magazines refer to him as James. I wonder if there was a change of heart. If they are the same then that should fulfill the sexy accent quota nicely. :innocent:

As for his age, I believe it's been said that he's completed his tour of duty and according to the Wiki is an experienced soldier. So he should be younger but not like some fresh recruit.

Most magazine articles that contain interviews are taken weeks to months before the issue is released, and it's most likely that magazines were simply operating on old info

I'm sure this has been discussed already, but I didn't see it in the last several pages and I don't have time to look through every one, so sorry if I'm being redundant:

I think it's super awesome first of all to have same-sex romances available for players, as there are tons, and tons of people here and other places like deviantArt who've expressed interest in it. However, I also agree that the best way to go about this would be to make new ME3 characters gay/bisexual, that way it doesn't looked cheapened for the returning characters who were "previously straight." I do, however, think it would be appropriate to make Tali bisexual, because the Tali/femshep dialogue still seemed very suggestive to me, but that's just my opinion.

When you look at it from back in ME1, Shepard already has a notorieity be it from Akuze, Torfan or the Blitz which can lead to some idolizing.  Granted beating back Sovereign's going to add more oomph to it, but I'm not quite seeing idolizing as an issue.

Now if we were talking Conrad Verner.....

Isn't it unlikely that Nigel will be a squadmember because he'd be left on earth while shepard is rallying the galaxy to help earth from the reapers?

Be quiet with your logic. :crying:

Doesn't Shepard have to take trial on Earth anyways? Maybe he meets Nigel Fishnchips while he's retreating from Earth.

The trialers tend to be overdramatized anyways.

It'd be funny if MShep could mess with Conrad and pretend to flirt with him or something, just to see his reaction. Even if he were straight, he'd prob. want to turn gay-for-Shepard. LOL

+1 for no daddy issues.:) If he has a loyalty mission, I sincerely hope it doesn't involve a family member, unless it's getting his family out of a tough situation (like they're pinned down by the Reapers or something). That would actually be kind of cool, now that I think about it. It could even tie into the overall story. Something tells me there are going to be more 'Sophie's Choice' type moments in ME3, like you can choose to help somebody, but it will mean you can't do something else you want to do. Talk about replay value! ;)

Oh that would be fun. And frustrating.

And he better not have a dead wife and kid.<_<

I think a bit age gap would make things a little awkward.

Especially if we're assuming Vega is a relatively naive Alliance soldier with little knowledge of politics. It would learn uncomfortably close to exploitation unless there is a well written and clear connection there.

I think ultimately that what everyone is looking for, then again since when do I spekl for everyone.
Everything else in the last few pages seems like people just having fun with the topic more than anything else.

Really? Tali's fairly young and I got not feeling of exploitation in her romance. Why would you feel it was exploitive?

Though that is why I want him as someone who can hold their ownin combat and in relationships and not some male damsel in distress.

Just thought of something regarding a Conrad romance:

Shepard is surprised at Conrads...ability.

Shepard: Wow...that was...a whole lot better then I thought. Want to go again?
Conrad: Don't take this the wrong way but...this wasn't as good as I thought it'd be.
Shepard: Wait...what?!
Conrad: Just didn't do much for me. See you around.
Shepard: -blank state, jaw drop-

Guess Shepard's not as good in bed as everyone kept saying.

But Conrad has to be good at something after all.

I don't think Tali is nearly as much of a "damsel in distress" as people make her out to be.  I think that is more some players' perceptions who wish to perceive her in that role because it's more attractive to them.  Her dialogue is "shy," but understandable because it's her first relationship.  I think actions speak louder than words, and Tali is a tough chick.  Think of the battles she's been in (hold the line on Haestrom) and in the first game where she takes on the assassins.  I saw her as a very strong character, and I don't see any "exploitation" either.

Personally I don't think physical age matters much as "maturity age" either, and I think all of the characters Shepard can romance in both games are mature enough (or kinky enough: Jack) for it to seem natural.

Can anyone else see Conrad running through a battlefield that Shep has just wiped clean of all hostiles, wearing a pink apron, sandwich box in hand calling out:

"Shhheppy! You forgot your lunch!"

?

I sure can. :B

Why does everybody keep making it seem as though Shepard's some doddering old man? *falls to knees* He's not! Really he isn't!

He's humanity's hero! Our vibrant and youthful savior! B)

Pretty sure Conrad would describe him as virile rather than vibrant.

HolyMoogle:

Heh. Vibrant and youthful, definitely ^____^

But comparing Shep's experiences (Torfan/Akuze/Elysium, events of ME, ME2, significant experience of battle, diplomacy, huge galactic shifts) to a relatively meek soldier with no understanding of politics makes me think there's a gap in 'maturity' or 'life history'. Shep's a hero, for want of a better word.

:D

This both why I should and why I shouldn't ever be hired onto any game's development team. :P

Anyway, I'm all for making passes at Conrad in ME3 thouigh I would say he's not LI material. Think Kaidan is most likely out of all previous squaddies for m/m but I also think Vega might be a LI.
