I don't know how the Tali-romance works, but I hear a lot of people talking about her and saying that they could not romance her, because she was like a sister to their Shepards and it would be weird.
How did that work in-game?
I mean, can't the same logic be applied to Garrus if he had been an s/s-option?
"I didn't romance Garrus 'cause he's my bro" and so forth?
-Wider options for Romance in ME3, including Same-sex- *Update added*

It still doesn't negate the whole "I didn't want to do it so I didn't do it"-factor.
People just choose to not see that when it comes to s/s, I guess?

personally, I wouldn't even mind if there are no color/heart indicators to romances, provided there's an option to break off the relationship at any time (so that if you didn't realize you were flirting - you could extricate yourself, once you do), in fact - make it a nice option and a nasty one, and I don't want breaking off relationship automatically end up in "I won't talk to you anymore, ever" scenario (unless you use a jerk response instead of a nice one - then its valid)
however - icons or colored text make it easier to relax and not worry for a lot of people, so its probably a better solution for majority.
here's an idea of a toggle that I have. at the beginning of the game - you get to chose whether you want colored text to be displayed? or everything show up in uniform color, so that you don't ever know which response gives you which score points, until after you chose it. this of course will require much better paraphrasing, but its already required IMO. with this sort of toggle - those who want to know what to avoid from the start - get their wish. and those who want to roleplay the unknown? get their wish and I don't think it would be difficult to implement either.
For me, only reason I'm liking the option/backup option of coloured text is for when I'm playing drunk and most likely to not be able to coherently process the written word but will remember 'hit the greeeeeeen....'.

This could even be in the Gameplay Option screen, like persistent gore and suchlike, so you could turn it on and off.

Generally when it comes to anti-s/s sentiment, most of the reasons given are secondary to and primarily used as justification for underlying personal discomfort, rather than actual reasons that stand on their own.Cootie wrote...

Kicker is I don't drink often so when I do, it doesn't take much to get me there and I usually will get sloshed to blithering. Since house rule is I'm forbidden from any online posting or playing any MMOs while bombed, I usually end up playing a game. Last drunk play was with ME and resulted in Doofy Shepard. Once I was sober and loaded him up, it took me a couple days to figure out what the hell I did with him because the choices were really bizzare.

I'm not a man, so I don't really know for sure, but I always got the impression that male friendships were a good deal more "light" than close friendships between women. We women can talk about some really heavy, deeply personal stuff sometimes, but I've never seen that with guys. Not saying it doesn't happen, of course. I do know that while I have some close friendships with males, I don't talk to them nearly as much about the heavy stuff as I do with my girlfriends.

Since I've mostly worked in male dominated jobs, from what I've seen it's close but on a different wavelength. I still don't quite get it but it's serious business with guys.

I find it hrd to read the dialogue when I'm ripped...I always go with the renegade option because it always makes me laugh...I play paragon when I'm sober...(how boring)...

Because men hitting on females is normal, what do you expect.
Being afraid of gay video game characters hitting on your Shepard is completely normal behavior.

That would be interesting. In fact, it would be cool if she were (somehow, for some reason) a squadmember. I believe she's kind of closed shop in the Presidium since Sovereign, right?

The problem with that is that she sleeps with both male and female Shepard in the first game.
Edit: You are meaning a squadmate who is a "bi" squadmate. We already have an Asari for that....her name is Liara. It would be nice if she was a human instead.

She's an interesting fling but I don't see how that could turn into any sort of romance worthy of a LI status. Plus I don't think she'd be interested in giving up her job! Not that my Shep would mind....
