That's been the case with all romances in ME. You have to choose them, not the other way around.SarahAnne wrote...

I don't mind same sex romances, but lets keep the romances limited. In ME2, it seemed like everybody wanted a piece of Shep, even when you were just trying to be a nice guy. In ME3, lower the number of possibilities of romances, and make them more in depth, and meaningful like that of the first Mass Effect
Agreed. Bioware is probably sensitive to both sides (inclusive without annoying straight guys who want to just play the game). I have a feeling you'll have to go out of your way and actively pursue a s-s romance in ME3, and they'll probably make it painfully clear that YOU'RE ABOUT TO HIT ON A DUDE to strike a good balance of gamer desires/concerns.
Casey Hudson did say that the s/s romance will be available with how your Shepard acts around them within the game. Which may indeed mean that your Shepard must actively pursue an s/s romance. It would make sense.

Your "opinions" are akin to those who say other races are less equal. It's not a choice, so how can it be immoral?ReconTeam wrote...

A "gay toggle" would be offensive in the same exact way to LGBT people/supporters.
And some people find homosexual acts offensive, or just don't like the idea of pre-existing characters being rewritten as bisexual. Saying "They're bigots" isn't a justification to avoid any sort of compromise like an option at the start of the game.
Some people claim to find interracial pairings offensive, or inter-species for that matter (alien-human).....Therefore, if a "race toggle" and "alien toggle" are implemented then why not a "gay toggle"? Sure, by all means.

And I really liked that. I wasn't particulary(sp?) fond of the fact that romances came too easily in the second game. Especially Garrus'. I would have really liked to work at getting the romance.

Sexuality isn't even comparable to race. Pulling these comparisons out of your ass doesn't make it so. Not everybody even agrees it's not a choice and such a discussion is off limits anyway.

That's the problem. The compromise is inherently offensive. It legitimizes the concerns and opinions of people who find homosexuality to be objectional. It sends the message that "we think the opinion that homosexuality is offensive has value and is worth considering, and we are willing to accommodate those people".ReconTeam wrote...

The implementation of the toggle has so little affect on the game itself that its inclusion would be almost an entirely ideological one, hence the ideological objection. The current system works fine. If you don't want to have gay sex, don't.

Some opinions are inherently ****ty. The opinion that homosexuality is wrong is one of them.

You don't choose your sexual orientation anymore than you choose your skin colour. It's genetic. It doesn't matter if someone disagrees with that fact due to some predetermined bias, it doesn't make it any less of a fact.

Why this assumption that every brothel has to be a run down dump? Where you think Wall Street CEOs go?
How about "home to their wives"?
Seriously, if we're going to act all high and mighty about morals and how morally wrong this or that is, well, how about sex-for-money, infidelity, etc.? Doesn't seem like that moral outrage really extends to these areas. For what it's worth, I find those two things DEEPLY offensive in real life, and yet I'm not offended by the Blooming Rose or any other instance of brothels in video games that I've seen.

I mentioned the fact that being gay was due to genes, not choice. Just like skin colour, eye colour, gender etc
The list goes on. To decree that there is a right way to be born is unjustifiable. If any black person was insulted by my comment, then they probably deserved to be.

WOW You just wrote a post that is offensive to people from both groups.
Stop with the off-topic. Let's discuss s/s in ME3, not if homosexuality is right or wrong or race or none of that. People got banned yesterday for the same crap.
Please, even if you disagree with another post, take the higher path and ignore them if their argument is off-topic.

It's pretty much an accepted scientific fact that everyone's preference is biologically based. And there is ongoing research into it being genetic.JetsoverEverything wrote...

Sexuality is innate, just like skin color. Gays can't make themselves like the opposite sex no matter how hard they try, just like how a "insert race here" can't change their skin color, hair type, etc.
