It's MY personal belief that the REAL reason so many people hate Jacob is that Hale makes it sound like Shepard is in heat during their first conversation on the Normandy.

That's one of the reasons, I dare say. I didn't like talking to him because of that reason and, subsequently, I didn't get to know him as a character at all well. It's a shame because it wasn't his fault. It was whoever's choice it was to direct Hale to talk like that. *glares at that unknown person*

It is a shame because the Jacob romance is actually pretty well done, I thought, though my girlfriend played it and showed me. She still prefers Garrus. YouTube has the Jacob romance on video so you can see if you agree.

DING DING we have a winner here.  I mean I don't think Jacob would be super popular all of a sudden but he'd be much more popular as a bromance for the ladies who don't romance him if the direction for that one line hadn't been so horrible. (Yes I blame the 'director,' I know Hale can do better,)  He's actually a pretty cool guy who my femsheps would love to get loud and spill drinks on the Citadel with!

Yeah, Shepherd should initiate the romance via flirting. No ninjamances please.

Well it wouldn't make much since for a male companion to hit on shepard if he's romanced multiple women over the ME saga.

Depends on the NPC.  Zevran or Isabela for example wouldn't care.  Kelly probably wouldn't, if Jack decided she was interested I doubt she'd care and just go for what she wanted. Who knows about unknown NPC's.

And we've been over the whole romanced women doesn't mean someone is straight thing no matter how many times you refuse to ignore it.

That said yes it would make it less likely and if it could be coded easily into the game with a minimal zot expenditure I wouldn't mind if they did.

Somewhat interesting how saying fanatics gets called on as hostile when I could say the very same for this. Also for the only new characters we know of james vega I think. Isn't he in the alliance? I don't know much about him but I could be wrong, him hitting on a commanding officer if shepard never showed interest would be very silly.

I'm a straight guy and I've been hit on by LOTS of gay guys.  There's no reason for guys to be offended, just take it as a compliment and move on.  It's not like the next thing they are going to do is jump on you and forcibly make out with you; a straight guy wouldn't do that to a girl, why would a gay guy do it to another guy?  Gay people aren't stupid, they understand if you are straight, and they aren't going to bother you anymore if you don't like your compliments.  I have confidence that Bioware understands that too and is going to do this right.

Has Bioware indicated if the Kelly "romance" will be recongized in ME3? I'm curious to see what happens when frustrated VS lovers who allowed themselves a fling are forced to face the consequences of their actions. Of course, I get the feeling that Kelly isn't one for monogamy anyway.

To Bioware:
Fully developed Kelly romance, please, k, thanx.

I've never romanced Jacob. The first few times I played, found it a bit annoying how FemShep acted like a cat in heat around him but I was like whatever. Then I watched "The Prize" on youtube......never been able to even talk to him besides personal mission request dialogue after that. Completely disturbed.

My big problem with the Jacob romance was that if felt more like a booty call. I just never felt it had the same emotional weight as the FemShep/Kaidan and MaleShep/Jack romances. Or even the Shepard/Samara notmance.

I think at this point having the thread locked wouldn't be a bad thing. The pointless bickering is getting out of hand. Even those of you who I know are reasonable and nice people are involving yourselves in this. Please, just leave the real world opinions out of it. Let's concentrate on how we can foresee enjoying ME3 more instead.

Considering that we did actually get agreements on a better worded dialog wheel, possible coloured text highlights and that the writing be handled well whatever the final call is, that's been it for about coming up with concrete ideas for implimentation.

In the limited sane moments between the off-topic mayhem, we've concluded that most will be okay with same sex romances if there is no chance of ninjamancing. Also, the option of having colour coded dialogue is fairly well accepted as well. Dialogue definitely needs to be clear, yep.

People seem fairly split on whether same sex romances should be limited to new characters or not. Although there has been no outright demands for existing characters to become availble but there are requests for it. I think we're also in agreement that the entire cast should not be bisexual.

From what I've seen, that's all that's been agreed upon.

This. I don't want them hitting on me unless I've hit on them. That makes it for no anders moment or romancing them on accident. It also keeps them acting the way they have always acted, and keeps my viewpoint of the character in tact.

No. Please god no. We don't need a flirt option like DA2 had.

If you're really afraid you'll flirt by accident, just don't pick the blue dialogue.

being paragon though shouldn't make you start a romance straight or gay. At the very least you should be able to be a bro with for example garrus (picking paragon options), and not be afraid that you'll end up being in a romance.

Having a heart option is not a step in the right direction.

I think Hale's lines are permanently etched into my head, but I actually hadn't thought of trying that. I think I'll give it a go.

I don't hate Jacob, I just couldn't stomach talking to him.

Outside of the cheesy dialog, Jacob's romance is actually pretty well-done.

Most guys in my experience (girl speaking, if it helps) do know where to draw the line if you reject them clearly and firmly, but a fair number of them don't. I wonder if these guys are afraid of gay guys being as agressively forward with them as guys tend to get with women?

Not meant as an attack against straight guys, just thinking out loud.

Yes, this. It solves ninjamance problem for everybody, even for straight people who just don't want to romance Ash or Kaidan or whomever.

Current poll of mine is dead tied between colored dialogue or no indications, though.

I think having an option to either enable it or disable it in settings might help. Then those who appreciate tone indicators can use it, and those who think it's obtrusive can turn it off.

Well I wouldn't be bothered if a new character hit on me the first time we meet (like zevran in DAO). But I wouldn't want a character who has been with me the whole way hitting on me like garrus, for reasons that should be obvious.

That would be perfect. And if anyone accidentally stumbles unto a romance without the icons, they can complain, but it's pretty much their own fault for turning off the warning.
