You keep saying bad writing.

I don't think you really know what that is.

you're saying a long established friend of a character suddenly declaring love for another character with no build up or explaination or anything wouldnt be dumb?

if in season 5 of Lost if Jack turned to Saywer and said "i've always loved you, lets be together" wouldnt you react like "wait what? where'd that come from?"

all that was said was if a guy has sex with a girl, its not unreasonable to assume he's straight. might not be 100% accurate, but most of the time sure.

now this is a STORY. where characters should be well defined by this point, changing them around is poor writing, especially using the excuse "well they were always bi, they just never mentioned it till now" can you really not see how someone might feel thats really forced and dumb?

It wouldn't be a change if you just assume they are straight, though. You just had an assumption. A reasonable assumption, it just didn't pan out later on. What is changed is the evidence and your knowlegde of that person, not the LI themselves.

Might be funny if everyone ever turns out to be bisexual in ME, but I see BI romance options as an Acceptable Break From Reality, myself. It just saves the game creators a lot of trouble making solely gay options. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I seriously hope it's the James Vega guy that is the bisexual romance interest. I don't like any of the guys except for Garrus, and I can't see Garrus into men.

It's one guy that'll be bisexual, that's the only change so far. No one wants an all bi crew.

Its probably not dumb to them because they have probably always interpreted friendship as love anyway..

A) It wouldn't be inherently dumb, no.

B) You have no idea that it's going to happen "suddenly".  (Or how it'll be written at all)

C) Jack and Sawyer totally belong together.

Why are you assuming there wouldn't be build up or explanation? You have no way of knowing that.

If it was built up and eluded to earlier no I wouldn't have a problem with it.

i dunno, i find it surprising that people want s/s relationships in the game and actually WANT completely out of the blue announcements from half the characters that they're bi and available.

i just have higher standards i guess?

New or old Im happy its included. It will be interesting to see what Bioware do, I dont think they have decided if to make it for new characters or old yet judging by Casey's recent tweets.

I always felt femsheps relationship with Tali had more too it. So personally I would welcome her and femshep getting together. It would be quite sweet. After all the dialogue between the pair in ME2 is very subjective and open to interpretation. The foundations are certainly there for something if Bioware chooses.

they better just add gay or bi character cause they cant just make characters that was there since me1 gay out the blue

It's not making them bi out of the blue since it was never comfirmed.

so they have to confirm there gay or straight we cant go by there personality's how they communicated with each threw out the series how they acted cause i kinda figured that Garrus was straight cause of they way he communicated with Shepard showed no romantic interest in him since ME1 they seemed more like best friends but now in ME3 he wants do the dirty with him and  same with Joker i relate him to his voice actor seth green funny dude and Kaidan i thought-he was gay since ME1 i tryed to make him do the dirty in ME1 bout cant lol he could be gay in ME3 idk

The problem with a new LI though is that he's new. Shep, after two games will only be able to date said noob, instead of improving a relationship he already has.

I don't mind noobs, if they're hot noobs. Honestly, this James Vague-a sounds hot so far. I hope he's bi, so I can have Sheps of both genders get up on that.:D

If the guy's a boss and he's not a clone of any other past stereotypical male s/s LI *cough*ZEVRANFENRIS*cough* I'll be happy.
This guy needs his testosterone, not good hair.

From what little we know about him now, he sounds kind of Chris Redfield-ey to me, which, yes please. Especially if they give him a Latino look. :D Several of my Sheps would have major wantage. ^_^

Not if it's going to be like ME2. only a few characters in ME2 had depth.

Define "depth."  Because seriously, even Grunt surprised me with his character occasionally.  Searching for his own reasons and identity, trying to find purpose other than what Okeer handed to him?  A lot more philosophically intriguing than you'd expect from Baby Hulk-Smash.

Hell, Legion had the least screentime of them all, and he probably outshone Tali, who had two whole games to develop!

Not to mention Wrex, Ash, and Garrus in the first game.

You're just stooping to insulting people now. There's no need for that. Just because people want s/s romances in the game (there are already some anyway) doesn't mean they have low standards. They just have their own preferences for optional content. And it's already fairly obvious there will only be one or two new bisexual options so there's no need to exaggerate either.

I'm still amused at how people are getting so irate over optional content.

Buildup and explanation couldn't happen over the course of the events of ME3? You act like it's going to be like this:

ME3 Title Card. Scene: Earth: Opening dialogue:

Kaidan: Hi Shepard. I'm totally into dudes. Do you love me?

Shepard: Option 1: Yes Kaidan, I totally wuv you, come here you!
Shepard: Option 2: I don't love you, Kaidan, but I am totally into dudes too, OMG.
Shepard: Option 3: I hate you Kaidan! But I am totally into dudes.

THAT is bad writing. I'm thinking BioWare can do better.

It'd be the just as weird if Jack turned to a female member of the cast (Sun, maybe) he had little to no romantic interaction with and declared his love for her. I don't really see what the gay changes in this situation.

Little note here - Garrus also had no romantic interest in female Shepard until she propositioned him in Mass Effect 2. In Turian culture, everything is pretty much allowed as long as it doesn't disrupt anything the crew is doing.

There would be no random out of the blue love declarations in any of these romances. They will most likely all have proper buildup.

YES! I want young greenhorn with a major case of Shepherd fanboyism! Not a pretty boy drenched in enough angst to swamp a troup of frolicking kittens!

Maybe they could give him a 24 hour shave look....young and rugged
